Covid and travel discussion

Can't read this (paywall), but is the jist the test can be done at the airport, with a booking I presume, and you can go to your hotel/house and wait for what seems a speedy result?
You should still be able to read it but yes, you can do that. I'm not sure there are any testing companies at Manchester Airport that offer a turnaround in just a few hours though. I think Collinson are saying up to 48 hours, although I'd hope it would be quicker than that. I'm due to land back from Tenerife at tea-time a week on Sunday and could do with getting a test that gives me results on the Monday morning/afternoon to enable me to go back to work on the Tuesday so I'm trying to work out who best to book one with.

Also, the other issue with pre-booking a test at the airport is if the flight home is delayed and you miss your testing slot. If I plump for an airport test, I might only book it on the day I fly home - if no delays at Tenerife airport, I could probably book it then for when I land back home (assuming there are any available slots of course).

Randox at the airport do a PCR test with results guaranteed by 23:59 the following day for £55 (£50 with discount code from any of the airlines), just booked it for next week so will work from home the day after so could be worse.

Ok, cheers for that. On a related note, with the changes in testing requirements do you know if we still need to book the test in advance in order to get the booking reference to stick on our passenger locator forms before we return home?

Yes you do. We just received the email confirmation with the reference number for the PLF. That's not really changed since this all began. You've always needed the reference for the form, PCR at first, then LFT (for a few weeks) now PCR again.

Thanks. I'm just a little reluctant to book a PCR for when I land in case I'm delayed. Would Randox allow me to change my appointment if that were the case?

Yeah crossed my mind as well. I've gone for the drive through option a couple of hours after scheduled landing, can't imagine they'll be that precious about it to be fair, they must have to deal with people being delayed (or early) all the time at an airport drive through

That's true. It's a bit of a ballache for me because although I land at teatime, it's a Sunday so a lot of the airport testing sites close a bit earlier. I think I'm going to book an in-clinic test with DAM Health on Chester Road for the Monday morning. My boss did a pre-departure PCR test with them prior to going to Dubai the other week and got the results back about 5 hours later.

Just touched down in Lanzarote, process went smoothly but was stressed getting everything together.

Big shout-out for the Holt's pub at Manchester Airport, £3.80 a pint.
