Covid and travel discussion

Where are you getting 3 tests from mate? The way I’m reading it is that it’s 1 test 48 hours or less before you fly home, and a PCR before the end of the 2nd day upon return
A week ago, you needed a lateral flow test at day 2. They then changed it to a PCR test, so any LFT you’d bought was out the window. Now they’ve added in the pre departure test. 3 tests at over £100 per person. Meanwhile a million free tests are being done every day in the UK. Just make everyone have a test on arrival at the airport. Getting through customs takes so long these days they could have everyone’s results by passport control.
First government in history to make people pay for public health measures, which is why they lurch from one self inflicted crisis to another.
Can’t imagine having the same rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated is the ideal way to get more people coming forward...

Yes you still have 48 hours to pick up the bug which kind of makes the test pointless. Lateral flow tests give results in less than 30 me minutes. How about everyone does one prior to boarding? No doubts at all then.
sounds good but can you imagine the havoc at the airport when people are denied boarding a couple of hours before departure and then whose problem do they become
Dont think theres any easy solution but its the sudden chopping and changing doing the damage as you cant plan for what might happens whilst your away

Yes it could be a pain. That's the problem thing's appear to be getting back to normal so you try and plan ahead then it's all ripped up again. Just like the flu we have to stop panicking, protect ourselves as best we can and carry on. If the flu virus was just discovered we'd have been locking down every winter with this mindset.

This was the week after.
I know mate but gotta be honest, it’s pretty well known around where I am that Benidorm has been a super spreader. They have really let their guards down there.
Understandable considering how hard businesses were hit during lockdown but they aren’t helping themselves.covid is absolutely rife atm there.

Therein lies the problem though. We've been on four foreign trips since the summer and in most cases, people are really compliant wearing masks at the airport and on the plane, but it's outside of these areas that's the problem.

Walking through the historic parts of Valencia on a Saturday night and the bars and restaurants were packed to the rafters with people crammed in close to each other. This is not the way to make things go away. We only ever ate outside (apart from one morning where we found a quiet corner in Starbucks when it was nearly deserted) and we made sure to mask up whenever we came into crowded spaces, even outside.

People need to change their mentality, then we could probably go about most of our business with little or no change. Unfortunately, I don't see this happening any time soon.

Yes two, not sure where I got three from.
if me and my familly do end up going to LOS,Thailand at the end of january
its looking very unlikely now !
currently we will have to have 4 pcr tests
one leaving ,one entering thailand and the same coming back.

my mrs and son wont have seen their Thai familly for 6 years in March 2022,everything was cancelled cos of fucking covid in march 2020.

looks like it will be 2023 at this rate,if we are incredibly lucky
