Covid and travel discussion

Holiday companies has just asked me to pay the balance for our August holiday in Greece despite them saying they'd delay payment until nearer the time.
I'll probably lose my deposit now but better than chasing 4k when it's cancelled in August!

as long as it stays on amber you can go on holiday. When you come back if you are able to just work from home for 10 days - all legal

Filled in the online refund form for a cancelled easyJet flight from Dalaman to the UK, in July. Received a response yesterday saying my request has been rejected as I've already boarded the flight !
They're not able to receive emails as their postbox is full. I wonder why?

nice to see you have taken your seat early and avoided the big bunfight to put your gear in the overhead locker. Is it the same rules as trains and you mustn't have a piss in the loo whilst the plane is in the airport? You'll be gagging for a piss by the time take off comes around lol.

Did the same a few weeks ago for a holiday at the end of August. No idea if Greece will be red, green, purple or sky blue ginger. The whole COVID tesing before going and before returning was a PITA. Can't imagine how hard it will be to get a test organised on a Greek island......

Simply not worth the mither this year. We're off to Ourgate.

I was due to pay Balkan for a holiday in Bulgaria in March (flight end of May), also decided to cancel lost £100 but as I'd paid in xmas 2019 I didn't feel it and didn't want around £2k sat with them forever...I know they're a big company and 'protected' but someone is going to go pop at some stage and then all the pissing about to get my money back etc. So just took the mini hit.

Know what u mean my mates just got his money back last Tuesday from Thomas Cook holiday . Whole thing is a joke.

As I've said before its either safe to go away or its not so let people go no restrictions or . Ban all travel and refund people .

Blimey must be over 2 years ago they went down.

I was thinking of messing about with loads of paperwork not having to wait 2 years for any money....best £100 I've spent in a long time.

Not holding much hope of a family holiday to Portugal in August. The self isolation would result in my youngest missing her 1st day at school.

Our governments annoucement doesn't change international travel does it? I mean an amber country like Portugal is needing to get it's own infection rate down to get Green status so could change at any time?

Only an idiot would go on holiday with no travel insurance.
And UK govt advise against travel to most places, thus invalidating travel insurance.

You can get policies that cover against FCDO advice.
And there are a handful of bucket and spade destinations that are currently 'amber' but where the FCDO doesn't advise against travel (Canary Islands, some Greek islands, Portugal), so a standard policy would cover this as normal.

Most people wouldn't be able to travel to an amber destination (myself included for work purposes) but there are some who can do so, and some who are actively doing so as holidays are still operating to these destinations.

Has no tangible knock on effect for travel in theory.

Reading between the lines, given that they have extended domestic restrictions for another 4 weeks, I can't see the next 2 traffic light reviews throwing up many changes, if any.

The green list will remain as tumbleweed for the next 2 reviews in my opinion, to match this UK restrictions extension.

Says who, abta, atol?
Fuckin stinks pal.

Neither ABTA nor ATOL would have anything to do with where people can or can't go on holiday too, it's not their jurisdiction.

Does indeed stink though, and the noises coming out from the Gov about no furlough extension is gonna cause havoc for travel jobs and businesses.

So are you saying that anyone who goes to an amber country will have no travel insurance at all?
