Covid and travel discussion

It's not just holidays it's people who haven't seen relatives for nearly 2 years plus are you advocating everyone to holiday here?
What about our travel industry?
did you actually read my post, i literally said i could understand people visiting relatives

the travel industry is going to collapse, a few thousand risking everyones health by going on holiday abroad is not going to save it

yes i am advocating people holidaying here or, shock horror, not going on holiday at all.

You're right, hugely unpopular ;)

Probably not the thread for you if you just want to shit on people who are intending or hoping to get abroad sooner rather than later.

If you wanna stay home that's cool, but there's no need to try and guilt trip others into doing so as well.

just saying i dont think its a good idea
the motives of people travelling abroad for holiday seem very selfish, although if you are travelling to see family i could understand it

is it really?

not part of my culture

and is deffo something you could forgo this year, for the sake of everyones health and the wider economy
True - Wakes weeks used to be unpaid holiday in the summer and people used to walk up a hill for entertainment, which advanced to Blackpool and Pontins.

It was only really the 1980s when people went to hot places and ruin their skin as much as possible, and it was very boring lowest common denominator stuff.

Nearly everyone has had a very tough 18 months.
Some people will have lost family members and friends. Likely not been able to give them a proper send off.
Many people have lost jobs and businesses. Years and years of hard work and sacrifice for it all to fall apart.

Life has been turned completely upside down, and only now are we starting to see real light at the end of the tunnel.

So if someone wants to go and lie on a beach in Greece or Spain, and perhaps try and enjoy life as much as possible for a week or 2, I don't consider that selfish in the slightest.

I actually think it's quite crass to suggest otherwise, and this faux moral highground that some 'staycationers' seem to have is very unnecessary.

That chip on your shoulder will go excellently with some fish in Whitby.

I can’t wait to go on holiday when permitted. If that’s selfish I couldn’t care less.
Hopefully don’t bump into any pirates in the med.

''yes i am advocating people holidaying here or, shock horror, not going on holiday at all''

Do you not find telling people how to spend their time and money breathtakingly arrogant?

in a word no

or at least least less breathtakingly arrogant than people going abroad on holiday and increasing the risk of a new wave of infections
