Covid and travel discussion

It’s not the quarantine that’s the problem for me it’s the testing, the cost and the chance of been positive either before or at the airport on the return. Bin them as well.

If you have been double jabbed and coming back from Green (Majorca) total costs are €20 for lat flow fit to fly and you can get a 2 day PCR for £30 now

I do agree the only stress would be a positive test prior to return.

Do you have to take your laptop with you though so you video talk or can you arrange them in the place you are at?

Doctor Nick in Puerto Pollenca will sort out the Lat Flow fit to fly two days before you return, you get your documents emailed. for Day 2 test you book and they send the details for your Passenger Locator, get home, kit will be there take to place in Swinton and they swab you.

OK so you get can get the result downloaded from your phone if you have emails on it.

well i hope i am proved wrong and it doesnt happen but if infection rates and deaths increase in the autumn it will be caused in part by those travelling abroad on holiday this summer.

there is no moral high ground just a failure by me to understand the motives of people going.
And if that happens, the blame should lie squarely at the door of the government.

You can't remove travel restrictions with one hand but say "we think you should all play it safe and stay put" with the other. I mean, I know this government has been giving out mixed signals from the very start, but that really would be taking the piss!

What about the test before you go though?

is it really?

not part of my culture

and is deffo something you could forgo this year, for the sake of everyones health and the wider economy

It’s a massive part of people’s lives. It is in part what keeps them going through the year. Families are prepared to sacrifice things or get themselves into debt for it. You live in the U.K. and don’t understand this or are you based elsewhere?

You dont need one if you’re double jabbed. Just the NHS proof that you are.
Hi mate where is this written down I was under the impression it was like going to the champions league final! Only asking as we are due to go to Tenerife in September and if it’s only £50 ish for test I’d be happy with that

Please explain to me how going to a place with far lower Covid infection rates than the place we’re currently living in, causes an increase in infection rates in the place we’re living in?

Hi mate, we’re off to Majorca on Sunday so have been doing the research Jet2 sent us.
As far as we understand it no test before you go if you’re double jabbed (must produce certification at airport), must also show proof that you’ve organised your private pcr test for day 2 after you’ve returned. Then lateral flow test in resort to show you’re negative before you fly back. There’s also something called a passenger locator form which needs filling out.

bob’s your grandma.

just saying i dont think its a good idea
the motives of people travelling abroad for holiday seem very selfish, although if you are travelling to see family i could understand it
Why is it selfish for people who have been double vaccinated to enjoy a week away in the sun away from this country?
Should we all stay here - and expose ourselves to more risk of covid? I don't get your argument.
I'm going in October and I don't give a f****!!!!

Think you must be on the wind up mate. We’re double jabbed. Got more chance of choking to death on my mojito or being eaten by a shark whilst there. Anyone who thinks we shouldn’t go can in the politest possible way get right to fuck. I’m well past all this utter hysteria now.

Totally agree mate, i'm off to gran canaria in october.

The only caveat is the canaries might have different entry rules at the time but given that most places will be desperate I think double jabbed status will be the way forward for a few destinations. Oh and check ages of kids as 14 and over might have to have PCR before going
