Covid and travel discussion

Tui allowed us to move to next year for an extra 500 quid, but we do get an extra 4th night which is great.
Thats fair enough isnt it. Part of me knows its sensible to move it on but im also sick of pushing holidays on. Had a greek hol tht will be 3rd time lucky if we get there this coming aug

this lap land trip was from last year

Sure all of you will have a brilliant time, enjoy. Would love to know how it went after you come home.

Tenerife just gone into level three, the fuckers didn't even give it long for level two to have an impact, a week at best. I'm here now so stuck with it, I'd stay at home if planning to come out, this lot panic worse than Boris and co.

Level 3 isn't even that bad though?
I'm sure when I looked recently the jump from 2 to 3 isn't much restrictions wise, certainly not enough to make the average tourist reconsider.

I see from that website that something changed yesterday actually....still wouldn't put me off travelling but very little does.

Going to level 4 is a whole different ball game however....

Karon beach today (taken by my partners friend)

These pictures perfectly capture the absurdity of it all from a travel and testing perspective.

Tomorrow, I could swap the cold, dark, Covid ridden UK for a week or 2 on this secluded beach in Thailand.
Instead of having to socialise indoors cos of the shite UK winter weather, I could spend almost my whole time outdoors, in the sunshine, not surrounded by people....and any international tourists I might encounter will have also had to test negative upon arrival into Thailand.
It's about as Covid safe an environment you can get.

Yet to return to the Covid ridden UK, I'd have to test negative before boarding the plane, and test again upon getting home and isolate until the result comes through.
How does that make any sense?
Hardly any other countries have these prohibitive measures on their fully vaccinated nationals returning home.

It's early January before the entry processes for the UK are reviewed, and its high time they stopped treating people who travel abroad like lepers.

I felt claustrophobic wearing a mask for 15 mins on a train the other day so Christ knows what I’d be like for 10 hours!

On the positive front, I read yesterday that Lufthansa are flying from Liverpool to Frankfurt next year which is good news for onward flights.

It’s just virtue signalling like most of the Covid theatre

I have got around not being able to get away, by recreating my time in India by hiring beggars to hassle me in my garden, emptying my bins on the grass and digging up the pavement. I have four cows being delivered next week to cut about nonchalantly. I drew the line at drinking Kingfisher beer. Im not fucking mental.

A tall Bhaang Lassi should help the mind recreate those happy days - Miss traveling in India, it’s just so bad it’s so good

The new rules are shite. My gran has come home from Spain on Friday. Pre departure lateral flow done, day 2 PCR done, triple jabbed. Gets told someone on the plane has tested positive so now has to do lateral Flow tests for the next 7 days.

Exactly the same thing happened last time too. What’s the point of the testing pre departure and post arrival if they clearly don’t work as intended?

You have missed out the diarrhoea.

im guessing any sort of quasi-lockdown from 27th will knacker all this again. What if you're already away?!

Not been away with the family for two summers now, jus5 had a look for a lodge type place in Cornwall in July 2022, £2700 for 7nights self catering, well they can just fuck off. No wonder people go abroad normally.

Got to do our tests
on weds night to travel to Lapland on xmas eve. To say im shitting myself is an understatement.
