ENGLAND REGIONAL CASES TODAY

REGION / CASES TODAY / UP/DOWN ON YESTERDAY V LAST WEEK

South East 8433 - up from 7906 V 7533

London 5987 - down from 6333 V 4654

NORTH WEST 4597 - up from 4261 V 3569 - moving up fast into third place up more week to week today than South East - just as Zoe predicted

East 4597 - down from 4778 V 4031

South West 3949 - down from 4077 V 4071

West Midlands 3188 - down from 4183 V 2922

East Midlands 3143 - down from 3730 V 2655

Yorkshire 2824 - down from 4189 V 2387

North East 1413 - up from 1038 V 1610

Most places down but North West probably had the worst day today. Up over 1000 week to week.

NORTH WEST NUMBERS

4667 UP 406 on yesterday & UP 1098 from last week's 3569 - biggest NW weekly rise in a long time.

NW probably had the worst numbers today. As Zoe predicted earlier again.

GREATER MANCHESTER NUMBERS

1719 - UP 50 when the NW is UP by 406 - so a good result for GM on the day as it is way under usual numbers as a split of NW.

AND

Week to week GM is UP 421 from 1298 - which is just under 40% of the 1098 NW rise.

That is about par (the GM split has been around 38/39% lately). So not a bad day in this more important measure despite the big rise which itself is much less good for the NW as a whole GM included.

Most boroughs up week to week. Many by quite a lot. Manchester and Stockport by over 100 each. Stockport had a really bad day. Just as Zoe predicted againearlier showing them shooting up over past few days and Stockport - just like Trafford before it - is Indeed heading again for the worst scores in the county after both had got things under control in past week or two and now lost it again. Manchester is not doing great but 100 cases there is much less damaging than in Stockport as the population numbers in Manchester are much higher.

MANCHESTER 297 / UP 1 / UP 109 / POP 53 / 18,916

WIGAN 242 / UP 56 / UP 39 / POP 73 / 19,045

STOCKPORT 225 / UP 43 / UP 105 / POP 76 / 17,802

TRAFFORD 195 / UP 15 / UP 65 / POP 82 * / 18,391 * Highest Pop Score today

BOLTON 103 / DOWN 50 / DOWN 11 / POP 36 * / 18,260 * Lowest Pop Score today

OLDHAM 87 / DOWN 8 / DOWN 13 / POP 37 / 19,178

WEEKLY POP SCORE TABLE LOWEST (BEST) TO HIGHEST (WORST) / BRACKETS (UP/DOWN IN WEEK)

BOLTON 317 (UP 6)

OLDHAM 318 (DOWN 1)

MANCHESTER 349 (UP 26)

TAMESIDE 418 (UP 18)

SALFORD 423 (UP 14)

ROCHDALE 440 (UP 31)

STOCKPORT 456 (UP 81)

BURY 465 (UP 86)

TRAFFORD 519 (UP 98)

Almost everyone had a bad day and was up and now 7 out of 10 are back over 400 for first time in many weeks. And Trafford is back in the 500s. With Stockport and Bury heading there at current rates too.

Stockport despite huge numbers today still extended its lead as the lowest Pop Score across the pandemic yet again V Trafford by another 6 today. The gap to Stockport is now 589.

Though in fact that is is no longer the real race as Bolton's run of good numbers have seen it sneak up on the rails and overtake Trafford's recent awful ones over the past few days to go seond and THEY are now the closest to catching Stockport just 458 behind but with a much better chance of doing so. Bolton are scoring far lower Pop Numbers daily at the moment than both Trafford and Stockport and on todays numbers could be the lowest in GM for the first time ever by Christmas.

At the other end Rochdale reduced its lead over Salford - who had the worst day - by 14 in one go to now be the highest across the pandemic by just 148.

Wigan also became the fourth GM member of the 19 K club today. Manchester will probably be number 5 on Thursday. Though Tameside could beat them there tomorrow with a bad day or make it five and six together on Thursday. Bury is likely to make it seven at the weekend!

Stockport should be te last to exit the 17Ks at the end of this week on current numbers,

Thanks for all the effort and time you have put into doing all the stats in these threads.. big hugs.

If the torys can hug at xmas parties it's game on, why should we follow rules that they don't enforce? I can see a lot more people not wearing masks and not following what them corrupt tory twats are enforcing on us.
They are apparently revealing plan B today too the BBC just confirmed new restrictions are to be announced later. Not good timing to get anyone following any tighter rules.

They still need to define ’with’ and ‘of’ for covid deaths as the over 80‘s die in their thousands every week. Difference is, in January it was over 40000 over 80’s and, in November it was 25000, which is actually fewer than most Novembers pre Covid!

they do, there has always been 2 values on the site. with + 28 days and on death certificate.

I doubt they will do that and it has always been a factor as I know only too well and have posted about a year ago on the other thread since most of my family have had Covid and one has died WITH it based on a weeks old test.

I say with it not of it (as even with it was not necessarily true) as she had recovered from it and died from her underlying condition after discharge from hospital but is still counted as one of Manchester's Covid deaths from this time last winter.

Her daughter pursued it with the hospital but got nowhere as she had been kept on the Covid ward unable to be released because it took them weeks to organise a care package for her to return to her daughter's care. We will never know if she had been released earlier if she might have survived. But it seems had to think she was literally killed by Covid

This is one of the reasons I follow the data so carefully as I know this will be far from unusual. And I think it highly unlikely they will alter this now.

Zoe today unfortunately still showsthe trend continuing of the last few days.

Predicted cases today clearly rising (up another 1134 today to 83,658) & Ongoing cases increasing day to day - up over 6000 to 1,112,853.

Equally sadly the trend of rises in the North West ahead of the other regions is also continuing after for some time NW faring very well.

It is now well ahead of Yorkshire which has started to drop like a stone. The real data is showing them doing well too so not a Zoe quirk.

I wonder if it means Omicron is colonising the NW faster than it is Yorkshire. Since this time last year the Kent variant wave took longer to get to Yorkshire too. Though it did in the end.

NW has now risen pretty steeply every day for six days and gone from 823/1128 to 975 / 1308 in that time.

In GM Stockport has more than doubled to be back over 10,000 after 3 weeks as the lowest in GM and its real cases have followed suit as the daily cases and its rising Pop Score shows.

Rochdale is now following it and Manchester is edging up too. But Tameside has the highest numbers in the North West at the moment alongside High Peak (the two boroughs surrounding Stockport). High Peak has gone from 3000 to over 30,000 in just 8 days.

Many other parts of the NW are falling on Zoe so it looks like Greater Manchester is driving the region upward at the monent.

Salford though has fallen from 39,000 to 15,000 in that same 6 or 7 days. And Bolton has dropped into the 7000s too in past few days.

Oldham still has the lowest numbers (4096) but is slowly rising too now. Bury has tracked Stockport and steadily climbed just over 10K in the past week from 7000 or so.

I guess that’s 161 deaths today not 61

they do, there has always been 2 values on the site. with + 28 days and on death certificate.

That is how they justified my relative being killed by Covid via a test she had recovered from just within 28 days = Covid killed her even if it most likely here did not. She died with it not of it. Possibly party because of it. But not the main reason. I suspect many cases are like that.
