Craig "Shez" Shennan (sadly passed today 01/06)

Apologies for the following incoherent babbling in advance. Please feel free to scroll past the ramblings of an over emoitional FOC.

My friendship with Shez started with a chance meeting with my best mate from back in the day, in a queue for tickets in the pissing down rain at Celtic.

I'd been ploughing my own furrow after moving to Leicester for work back in the 90's. Up and down every weekend on the Sheffield to Piccadilly rattler. Joined Leicester & Rugby branch after a chance meeting with another legend Dave Kelly. Met a Leicester girl and within weeks she had a season card and we've been going home and away ever since. Moved from 126 to the South Stand where we are to this day.

Anyway, my mate in the Celtic queue said I had to get my arse to the chicken hut to sample how aways should be done. A few weeks later, we had either Everton or the dippers away, can't remember which one, and we met the Baguley bus in a pub half way down the East Lancs. That was our first encounter with Shez. I'd seen him everywhere but it was always only a nod and a wink, as all Blues did. I was a bit starstruck because he was the "trawler man" which is a bit embarrassing for a bloke in his 50's, but what the hell. Anyway, he got us on the bus, I had to buy about 50 fucking scratchcard teams, but that trip with those lads changed my City experience forever. Shez (Meatloaf) and a few cheeky tossers (you know who you are @Citizen Green) christened me and the mrs as Dolly and Kenny and it has stuck ever since. Walk into The Townley and we get "Islands in the Stream" every single fucking time. The Gambler being sung across the Playa Major? Shez & Tommo giving it large. Serenaded by a mad bunch of the soundest bunch of lads fucking everywhere, all over Europe.

A lot of blokes dont have much time for engaging with female fans, it's a lads day out, that kinda attitude. But Shez looked after my mrs wherever we went. From getting shit at the swamp to rescuing her in Madrid when some other Blues got punchy over a taxi, he sorted it (she returned the favour when he got into some mither one night in Alty). Getting grief off anyone for sounding like a cockney, Shez sorted it. Panic attack in Belgrade, Shez was there for her. Without Shez we wouldnt have met the beautiful Chermine, his absolute rock, who's been by his side through all this shit, up and down from London, whilst dealing with the loss of her father only a couple of days ago. Words can't express the love and respect we have for that woman.

Shez was a one-off. The kind of bloke you rarely meet. Fucking solid. His spirit will live on through his amazing children who are a credit to him.

Rest in eternal peace Shez..its been emotional.

Up the fucking Blues.

Some beautiful tributes on here, clear that his spirit will live on, in the hearts and souls of everyone who knew him, and all City fans. Condolences to his friends and family. RIP Shez.

Some lovely words from many on here. Condolences to his family and of course to his many blue friends at this sad time.

My mrs aka "Dolly" @Mel77CTID is approaching the Club to have a permanent plaque put on his seat on behalf of Shez's family.

If anyone has any contacts at the Club that can help achieve this please let us know. The Club recently allowed this for a passed Blue from Cheltenham & Gloucester branch, and we really think it's a fitting tribute to this unique Blue, who has been through thick and thin following the boys all over the planet.

Ta.

a Wythenshawe mad blue all my life I joined the Baguley and Brooklands supporters club as a young lad to meet like minded blues who loved our club.

Enter Shez, he was not just City royalty but Wythenshawe royalty due to his various post rounds where he was adored by all of those he encountered. I was in awe of his dedication to City, he hadn’t missed a game since Chelsea away around 1995, that includes pre-season games and abroad. He to me was the standard bearer, what separated him though, is that no matter how moody an away day could get with alcohol involved, trips abroad or City making a pigs ear of things on the pitch… I never heard him say a bad word about anything or anyone, like wise, I’ve never met any blue, red or person who has encountered him say anything but lovely things about him, he was one of life’s characters that just brought positive energy wherever he went.

He followed our club like no one I’ve known, he began bringing his lovely daughter with him and they were inseparable, he took her all over the place and encouraged her, it was a beautiful relationship & to be frank, that’s what’s upsetting me the most right now. He took her to every single women’s game as well, well before that was the cool thing to do I might add, with all the misogynistic shite that went with it. He was a fucking diamond. He took me and many blues under his wing throughout the years & never ever expected anything in return, it was just his nature.

We can never replace him, he was one of a kind, I hope the club can do something for him. You didn’t deserve this Shez & its not fucking fair, I love you brother.

Words fail me Joe. You've done him proud with that tribute.

I never knew him or met him which seems quite strange as two very close friends of mine knew him very well and have been visiting him over this weekend. Ive heard his name many times in their conversations and they are both devastated at his loss. It's obvious by the tributes on this thread that he was a very special person in so many ways. My condolences to all of his family and friends. Losing both of my own parents has taught me one thing, when you lose somebody special, you never really lose them and if anything they are there beside you all the more. RIP Blue x

What a great guy my father in law introduced me to Shez as Shez was his postie at the time. I began to see Shez at away games and we nod to each other. Sometimes I would see him in the Chicken Hut.
