Craig "Shez" Shennan (sadly passed today 01/06)

Sending love to Shez and his family.

I noticed the fundraiser page said postal community. He looks a lot like my postie from way back in the later 90s or early 00s in Withington. If it is him he was an absolute sound fella and a very proud blue
 
I don't konw this lad personally but his face has been a familiar fixture at almost every away game I've been to since the late 80's. God bless him and hopefully a miracle can happen. Top Blue.
 
Know his brother who is also a postie and would tell me of his antics supporting City.
Hope all goes as well as can be possible.
 
Top top man, shez I worked on the post with him, and knew him years before that, I remember the day I joined the post, he turned to the gaffer and said top lad him, he stopped me getting sent off, I was playing against him, and he was in net, I was clean through and he wiped me clean out, ref straight over red card at the ready, I said ref he never touched me I dived, ref never sent him off, we had a good laugh about it after, keep fighting mate, cancer is a fucking shit stain of a disease
 
Got to say I had my doubts about starting this thread. Almost like an "in memoriam" when the bloke is still fighting for his life. I've lost count of the "insert name" RIP threads on here, after yet another Blue passes too early. For me, we should be celebrating a life well lived whilst Shez is still with us. Its been worrying me though.

But, having spoken to Alisha today, she put my mind at rest. She's been reading out the stories that are being shared on here to Shez, and it's given him a real lift.

So keep 'em coming Blues...and spill the beans @M18CTID...you know you want to.

If I'm honest I was a bit shocked to see him today. The last time I saw him was ballooning about in Bratislava, so to see him so weak is a hard watch. Having said that, it was so good to see him though, and his amazing family. Alisha and Jordan are just the best kids and a credit to Shez, who's brought them up good n proper.

Respect to the Rangers lads who made the long journey down to see him last week. He was apparently having a bad day but seeing you guys put a huge grin on his face.

Respect to Jack, Buzzer and Danny Wilson.

Keep fighting the good fight Shez, God loves a trier r kid.

This has hit me & many others in the local community hard, whether through City, or his work colleagues in the Post Office & the people he delivered to on his rounds. Before this bastard disease, he hadn't missed a game, home, away, Europe, pre-season, CWC - ANYTHING, since the mid 1990's. He even got in when we played CSKA & couldn't take fans in, see Millwall in 2001 in their end for the same, the man bleeds City blue. I posted this of him earlier before prior to Gillingham in '99:



I'm gutted for his lovely daughter who he's raised as a loving father, taking her all over the world with him watching City, they are the best of friends, I'm gutted for the people whose life he's impacted & I'm gutted that I am losing one of my best pals. I was with him earlier & he was in good spirits prior to Mike Summerbee visiting, he's also had messages from Jack Grealish (you can see that video on the twitter thread above the Gillingham video) & many other City players, we are a family. If the squad gave 1/10th of the passion he's given this club, they'd win the lot every season for the rest of time.

Shez - I love you mate, CTWD & beyond.

Great post mate. I was up there around teatime tonight so I think it was after you’d been. Went with @whp.blue who headed over at really short notice from Sheffield after I told him today. He was very drowsy when we saw him but he still acknowledged us after what must’ve been a very long day of comings and goings.

Spot on about Jordan and Alisha - they’re both an absolute credit to their dad.

Yep, the Karren Brady story. I told Jordan while we there but didn’t get chance to tell Alisha. Anyway, about 12 years ago at Fulham away some of us were in The Bricklayers Arms in Putney. It just so happened that they had a beer festival on that day out at the back. We bumped into Shez in the beer garden. There were dozens of different ales for sale and right at the far end there was one called Rhubarb and Riches (IIRC). After getting served, we wondered why there were TV cameras there. My mate then spotted something on one of the cameramen and it turns out that the people serving that particular beer were only off The Apprentice and this was their task. To be honest, their beer tasted absolutely rank and it seemed only us blues were stupid enough to drink it! Anyway, a short while later the side gate opened and another camera crew entered followed by Karren Brady. Shez being Shez then shouted:

“Hey Karren! Do you remember back in 1993 after you got the job at Birmingham City I wrote to you and asked if you wanted to pop round my house for a brew”. It’s difficult to describe the look on Brady’s face but I think it was a mixture of disbelief and disdain. To this day, I don’t actually know whether Shez did write to her or not but knowing what he’s like he probably did!

When he worked on the local milk round he reckoned had record sales of fizzy pop. He was obviously secretly drinking it all.

I did the same with Jimmy Saville, but he actually came round.

Yeah, we headed back to Leicester about 5ish. Back up Monday. Don't know about you mate, but I thought he didn't look good at all today.

Ha ha!

Yeah, have to agree that I didn’t think he looked too good either. A mate was up there yesterday and it sounded like he was better then. It could just be the meds and exhaustion as he cracked open a huge smile when Buzzer was there earlier this afternoon.

Hope you're right.

Had a word with a nurse on the ward. Asked her how he can be scoffing a fat kebab one day, then literally have zero appetite the next. She said that as this shit bastard of a disease progresses, patients get an "up" day before it then goes downhill again. He'll probably be eating a Madras tomorrow, with all the trimmings.
