Craig "Shez" Shennan (sadly passed today 01/06)

I never knew him or met him which seems quite strange as two very close friends of mine knew him very well and have been visiting him over this weekend. Ive heard his name many times in their conversations and they are both devastated at his loss. It's obvious by the tributes on this thread that he was a very special person in so many ways. My condolences to all of his family and friends. Losing both of my own parents has taught me one thing, when you lose somebody special, you never really lose them and if anything they are there beside you all the more. RIP Blue xhi
Hi mate. Like you I never knew him or not to my knowledge... and as a match attending City fan of the Machin to early Pep days
I would have surely come across the lad,but I have no memory of him, suffice to say, I'd have definitely brushed beer shoulders with him at countless games within that timespan...it's a sad situation but at least these poignant discussions only serve to show the passionate Relentless support of our club, ova the years Josh.
Shez...in my eyes, your were one of us.RIP. Blue.x

The coach was stuck in traffic on the way to Fulham

So this lot decided to climb the banking to try and get taxis to the ground

Once over the fence they found themselves on a golf course

After a bollocking from the golf club people the club let them phone taxis

The taxis then got stuck I'm traffic near the ground and they all had to run the last bit to get in

By the way the motorway traffic cleared up and us on the coach get in the ground before the taxi boys/girls

Classic shez story

Yeah, I'm sure you will have bumped into him somewhere on your travels mate

a Wythenshawe mad blue all my life I joined the Baguley and Brooklands supporters club as a young lad to meet like minded blues who loved our club.

Enter Shez, he was not just City royalty but Wythenshawe royalty due to his various post rounds where he was adored by all of those he encountered. I was in awe of his dedication to City, he hadn’t missed a game since Chelsea away around 1995, that includes pre-season games and abroad. He to me was the standard bearer, what separated him though, is that no matter how moody an away day could get with alcohol involved, trips abroad or City making a pigs ear of things on the pitch… I never heard him say a bad word about anything or anyone, like wise, I’ve never met any blue, red or person who has encountered him say anything but lovely things about him, he was one of life’s characters that just brought positive energy wherever he went.

He followed our club like no one I’ve known, he began bringing his lovely daughter with him and they were inseparable, he took her all over the place and encouraged her, it was a beautiful relationship & to be frank, that’s what’s upsetting me the most right now. He took her to every single women’s game as well, well before that was the cool thing to do I might add, with all the misogynistic shite that went with it. He was a fucking diamond. He took me and many blues under his wing throughout the years & never ever expected anything in return, it was just his nature.

We can never replace him, he was one of a kind, I hope the club can do something for him. You didn’t deserve this Shez & its not fucking fair, I love you brother.
Top post mate in time you will remember all the great times you spent together and cherish them, take care you to by the sounds of it was a special friend to him blue

United fan here, thought I would log on to read and hear about many of things written about Shezzy. A great lad, I knew Shezzy from being kids, we used to do paper rounds at the same shop in Northern Moor.

His love of City and Morrissey were never far from his thoughts, Shezzy was one of the most genuine blokes you could ever meet. A true blue, one of a kind and someone who could never do enough to help anyone who needed it.

Despite being a red, he did on occasion convince me to come along to Maine Road when we were both much younger. I used to enjoy the odd afternoon in the Kippax where Shez was known and loved by many. He used to bring a Grover puppet for fun, probably to distract from the football being served up at the time.

You have lost a legendary city fan, Wythenshawe has lost one of it's characters and I have lost an old friend.

RIP Shezzy, gone but never to be forgotten.

18th December 2008 - Racing Santander away in the UEFA Cup

I went on the official club day trip for this one. It was a return flight to Bilbao and a return coach from Bilbao airport to Santander. Bumped into Shez and Adam and Steve Clancy plus a few others so went on the lash with them in Santander. It was a long day - we got to Santander around midday and kick-off wasn't until 8.45pm local time so plenty of time to get wankered and get into some scrape or other, which is exactly what happened.

After a full afternoon drinking, for some unknown reason by about 7pm it came to pass that Shez and me ended up drinking cans of San Miguel at 47 cents a pop in a park in the dark and pissing rain with a load of Santander's ultras. If ever 2 City fans were absolute sitting ducks for a good old tuning in from some opposition fans then this was it! However, we got on fine with them and after getting out of there unharmed, we eventually made our way to the ground but not before a Spanish bloke pulled us as we were crossing the car park outside the stadium. He opened the boot of his car and pulled out a bottle of unknown spirit - much to the consternation of his 2 daughters - and offered us both a drink. Well we weren't going to refuse were we? Last I saw of Shez before the match was outside the turnstiles having his photo taken with a load of other blues. I didn't see him inside the ground at all but he must've been in there somewhere.

After the match ended, the coach taking us back to Bilbao airport was parked on the car park pretty much outside the away end. Perfect. It wasn't for Shez though. As the coach filled up, there was no sign of him. We waited and waited until the steward on the coach said they could wait no longer. I didn't have his mobile number so couldn't phone him. The coach set off without him and they said that unless they were lucky enough to come across him before leaving Santander then that would be that and he'd be missing his flight home. Unfortunately there was no sign of him as the coach finally reached the tunnel on the outskirts and once through that we'd be practically on the motorway back to Bilbao. This was surely game over for Shez. Now as I'd had a shit load to drink myself I couldn't remember whether it was before we entered the tunnel or after we came out the other end but the coach pulled over for some reason. The doors opened and Shez appeared! How the fuck he'd managed to get to where he was - which seemed literally miles away from the stadium - and in the pissed up state he was is a complete mystery. And of course, people were surely going to ask why he didn't get on the coach at the ground but as someone who has been in some right states on many occasions down the years I can testify that the easiest of routes can sometimes be the most difficult ;)

So Shez got on the coach and sat down on the spare seat at the front. The bloke next to him said "What the fuck happened to you?" to which Shez responded "Shut the fuck up" and promptly fell asleep!
