Cricket/South Africa test series

Malan looks like a good player. It’s surprising it’s taken him so long to make his debut.
 
Its a pitch if you just blocking and not chasing runs you can stay in for ages it’s the attacking shots will more likely get you out! Going to be a hard slog to win this match.
 
this is where a good captain win's this test match and finds away to take wickets, also england batted to long in setting up a score for them to chase, root should have given them a hope of winning the test and that way you don't just sit in and play for the draw, so root went 50 runs to much and it could cost england if we don't win

i see your point but slightly disagree - i think the pitch was such that it allows for digging in but also for chasing to an extent. You saw them rack up 126 for only 1, with a total in the high 300s i think confidence may have stepped in alongside the extra 10 or 20 overs to achieve it. It's all conjecture really, cricket hindsight is 20/20. I thought 420 was plenty but they pushed on a little further. We'll see how England go this session.

I thought Root got the declaration right, personally, and we have a great chance. If the other team bat out 5 sessions and you've bowled as well as you can you just take it on the chin.
