If we get to within a 100 with 5 wickets down with Root/Stokes still in I think the convicts will start to get nervous. It's a very faint hope but you never know

Yep but test match cricket is one of those games where a 100 runs could feel like 300 look at our run rate piss poor. If we need 50 with 5 wickets left then Id get excited.

Your right but sport and cricket in particular does throw up really close finishes

Ashes in 2005 threw up 3 ridiculously close games then the ashes game in Cardiff in 09. And the Series against South Africa in 98, two of those games went right down to the wire

Mate we’ve still got 2 days left. Run rate doesn’t matter at all. If these 2 put 70 on then it’s defo on

Must admit I thought 100% this game had gone as probably everyone else did. But we've definitely got a chance. Keep it to no more than five down at lunch and scoring around 80 runs in the session.

Will be some escape of we pull it off.

Run rate isn't an issue. Two days to score 203 runs. 100 per day. 17 per hour. Just over a run per over. Just keep our wickets intact.

If these two can eek out another 50 runs before one getting out, Buttler, given current form, should go at it one day mode. If he can get lucky for 10 or so overs he could get us pretty close.

It's all about what happens with the new ball.
I think it'll be in play after around 45 minutes, so it's absolutely crucial that these two get themselves in with the last 12 overs or so of the old ball
To be fair to the Aussies, they've bowled really well and been extremely disciplined
Spot on these 2 have to face the new ball, if they don’t can’t see us passing 250, if they get through the new ball it’s still effectively a day 3 pitch in lovely sunshine
