Our first change options aren’t anywhere near as good as Australia’s.

And why didn’t Archer bowl with such venom in the first innings?!

He was struggling with the wind so wanted to try to bowl a controlled line and length rather than fast.

There’s been nothing between these two teams except for that one session where England dropped three catches and got Smith out to a no ball. This is a 300 run wicket but those errors cost England 150-200 runs.

After the trauma of Headingley they'll surely want to take the lead to about 380 before declaring. They don't actually have to win. They won't want to take the slightest risk of being beaten, though. As things stand, they still retain the Ashes.

Be nice if it went to the last test. They are the better side (particularly with Smith in it), but if we can escape from OT with a draw, then you never know what might happen at The Oval.

Wishful thinking england will be 4/5 wickets down by lunch tomorrow. Australia's fast bowler will have a field day on that wicket.

Anyone going tomorrow be advised I just got an update from metrolink that there will be no service to old Trafford tomorrow, Sunday, because of maintenance work.
