It is the top order that has constantly let us down. In this and the other matches in the series. The tail enders and to some extent the middle order have made a it into a scrap. Hats off to them.

We can’t have any complaints. They’ve been the better team in three of the four matches, one of which we somehow won.

It’s a good-ish Australian side but I don’t think there’s been a worse English test outfit since the early 2000s.

The difference is Smith. He is the stand out player. The batting on both teams is very poor for test level and both captains are useless.
