What a ridiculous post, you clearly have some problem with Root. Firstly he was the main reason we where even in the driving seat. Secondly leach and Bess bowled quite poorly up until the middle of today’s play, leach just admitted as much during an interview. It’s almost like the team have had no practice since the summer and rustiness should be expected. Not to mention the pitch is slow and Sri lanka batted very well.
With the run out it was Bairstow who called root through for the single so again not quite sure why your critiquing root on that either. Only geniune compliant you could throw roots way in this match is again sometimes his fields are a bit defensive imo.
Finally yes how ridiculous it will be when root says it was a great win for his side after having no practice or test matches since last summer (unlike Sri Lanka who have just played South Africa) and on the back of series wins against West Indies, Pakistan and away in South Africa. We are a young side playing without Anderson, stokes and archer and imo are getting better and better.
