i agree batting wise but the role of captain is just has important to the team
root can still be in the team and bat at 3 or 4 but being captain as well he's had enough goes and the past 2 years been pretty bad at it and england have been poor results wise

Completely agree with all of that. I think he will stand down at the end of the series barring we get a result in these last 2 tests. He's already hinted that he wants to play in the IPL this year so perhaps stepping down was on his radar already. I just have no idea who replaces him. I barely know who will start in the West Indies in March.

at the start of the 4th test on the tv the BT presenter asked cooky how should test cricket move forward in the future and he said ? well am looking forward to seeing Ashley Giles and the Executive team to make big changes ?????

fuck off ? the problem is at the ECB with Ashley Giles and the Executive team. they have had 5 years before this tour and come up with nothing and egg on there faces ? so why should they get a chance for another 4 years and the same old shit and root as captain
