after the bashing in the ashes and root saying he is the right man to take england forward starting with the west indies tour. sorry i don't see anything that can be said to defend root as captain after this tour and change has to happen.
forget root the player and the runs. its the role as captain and bringing something to the table when times are tight and need something different to win a test ?
the captain has a say on players and bowling attack batting setup plus field settings and who to bowl at the right times and defend and attack ? do we even have any plans to get the opposition batsman out. do we know the weakness of the west indies batsman and how to bowl to them.

Well done the West Indies. From where they were, they would have folded quite easily in recent years, but they’ve shown great pluck and no little skill to get back in the game. This is shaping up to be a good Test.
