the ECB will just move the goalpost and stokes will be given a chance
so lets hope he can have some balls to say what he wants from the players and bowlers or else

Yep, and my point is nothing will change until we have better players.

Unless he specifically asks, why wouldn't the best batsman we have be picked?

Firstly, to be fair to me, I did say "unless he specifically asked". Secondly, has he said anything that I missed? I'm not saying he doesn't want a break; this last couple of years must have been stressful for him. All I'm saying is that I don't remember him hinting at such a move.

i respect everybody on here

i just feel root will want a break from test cricket and play country cricket and ODI for hte summer

He will want to overtake Cook as our leading run scorer.

Still zero chance of him asking to be rested or not being picked.

He is our only decent batsman.
