That's the Boycott who would have got them in singles over two days. Or have I missed the irony? What an innings from Bairstow, was like watching vintage Boycott that.
How about David Hughes in daylight?

179.9 per over !!!! :-)In 20 overs Barstow and Stokes put on 179. 9 an over in test cricket. Crazy
Would agree with that. New Zealand were also minus their captain and a key bowler short in the second innings. Doesn’t detract from a remarkable batting performance from Bairstow, however. How would you compare this to Headlingley 3 years ago (the Stokes/Leach game)? For me, it's not quite as good. On paper, weaker opposition. And we were looking down the barrel against the Aussies. Last pair at the crease, and over 70 runs still required. But it was a fabulous effort today.
Almost a litre of petrol!179.9 per over !!!! :-)
Not as tense and it was all on Stokes at Headingley. It was more of a team effort here, but Johnny certainly made it easier for everybody else. How would you compare this to Headlingley 3 years ago (the Stokes/Leach game)? To be fair, we should question both points about all of the last 30/40 designated batsmen apart from Root and Stokes, he can play all formats of the game and is a pretty good fielder both close to the wicket and on the boundary.Never doubted his passion just his shot selection at times and the inability to play the straight ball.
