Shows how T20 has improved the Test game, like India in Australia too.
They were talking about this one TMS the other day and they were saying that this is actually a myth.
They said it was actually the Sri Lankan team with Jayawardene and Sangakkara that started to increase the run rate in test cricket, which was then followed up and improved by the Hayden, Gilchrist, Ponting team. That was before t-20 even existed. They were saying run rates have actually gone down in comparison to those times and teams.

Well done MaCullum and Stokes for revitalising a very poor test team. By giving average or out of form players confidence to pay their shots instead of the turgid 1.8 an over bottle job bollox of the last three years, it’s transformed the team. I loved Foakes coming out last night saying “we’ll chase anything over 300 down” Just let Bairstow play his game whatever. He’s useless at trying to play ’properly’ Lees looks so much better playing positive. Let’s persuade Moin to come back to replace Leach and we might have the makings of a decent team for a few years.

Just watching the highlights now (at work during the day). Fabulous knock from Bairstow. It's actually surprising that he didn't break the record for the fastest test century by an Englishman. He was on 96, with 4 balls to break the record. The way he was sending the ball to all parts of Trent Bridge, you'd have put big money on him getting 4 runs in 4 balls.

Just back from Trent Bridge (free ticket !), astonishing day in the sun (wondered why all the people in the queue had sun cream).

Most folk round me thought it was heading for a draw, I thought NZ would win it when Root was out. Astonishing barriage including a six that whistled inches over my head into the top tier of Radcliffe Road.

Good day out in Nottingham too; easy entry and reasonably priced food and drink.

So they were singing Oh Kevin de Bruyne??

It was partly down to Ben Stokes inability to run a quick single and partially because he didn’t know about the record.

Its probably a good thing he didn’t know about the record as he might have caused a runout etc.

NZ were a bit light in the bowling department to be fair. Outside of this I am enjoying the positivity coming from the England camp , this coupled with some top county cricket games at the moment.
