Is it perhaps a case of punishing as many poor/mediocre/fair balls as possible but being disciplined enough not to do anything stupid with the good balls? I mean, how often do we see cricketers getting out in test matches to crazy shots that were never really on? Or not defending well enough when needed? I think Bairstow is a good case in point. We know he has the ability to destroy teams with his batting but he's given his wicket away cheaply on many occasions. But currently his batting is more destructive than it's ever been while at the same time he's shored his defence up.Absolutely ridiculous how easy this has been made to look. After the first innings, and Stokes dismissal in particular, I wasn't convinced Bazball was the way forward against the better teams, but hard to argue with this performance.
YJB seems to have been working on his tendency to play around his pads.
