The batting heroics have overshadowed a brilliant bowling effort on Day 4. India were 322 ahead with only 4 wickets down mid-morning yesterday. Many teams would have let their heads drop. Brilliant.
That's a fair point. Those last six Indian wickets fell in the space of 55 runs (190/4 to 245 all out). Credit to Stokes there; impressive figures of 11.5-0-33-4.

Exactly what was needed for test cricket to survive. Ruthless and attacking from england , mccullum the pep of cricket and bazzbal the new tiki takka

The winning run goes on and England look a different outfit ? But after the honeymoon it can fall away just as fast,
Root losing the captains' role to stokes can not just be the reason, the new head coach has little time to put his mark on the squad so what has changed, also the typical England playing at home with the conditions that suits us must come into account.

Whatever happened, please bottle it because this sort of test cricket that will keep the game alive and bring back the fans, smashing the ball all over the place is not test cricket, showing no respect to the bowler is not how we play,

it's just not English cricket, but I bloody love it

Top marks for mentioning Roots captaincy :-)

The problem was not just root being captain, the whole team was shocking, the batting was just Joe root on his own and teams knew just get root out the rest would fold. This summer, there is a backbone to the side and some great batting by 4 or 5 players.

Like I said, it may be just the honeymoon period and the English summer, so we have to just keep on doing what works and then take it to away tours in the winter

Pope has shown he can bat at this level just needs to taper his shot selection.
Root is brilliant and Bairstow has hit some great form now he’s not batting around his pads.
The opening spots are still not settled yet but if we can get there it could be a very good line up.
I do like the overall positivity and would love to see Brook get in there.
