How do you get the best out of Stuart Broad?
You make him angry by dropping him.

Broad With a ten wicket haul in the match.
I think even @ancoats with his Richie Benaud playbook might give Root a bit of praise!
Irrespective of his exclusion from the first test side, Broad has been excellent for a while now. My memory is laughably bad but I think I saw somewhere that he’s taken the most test wickets since 2019.How do you get the best out of Stuart Broad?

dropped for first test match was a major mistake by root and the ECB and the west indies was a patched up team and only had one good test in them fitness wise ? the 3 test series was to much for the west indies in a short space of time, england did not really need to dig deep and the weather in the other 2 test after losing the first was our only test in trying to win (did we have enough time) to take 20 wickets
root is a poor captain in the field and bowling options and setting fields is a puzzle ? but he will get out of jail because the west indies was poor and unfit to tour 3 quick test because of covid-19 and only having a small selection to pick from
Root wasn’t involved with the first test? Did he shag your wife?
no ? but i think she is selling drugs
because i just picked up the phone and a bloke answered and said is the dope still there
Root isn’t perfect, but there is no one better at the moment, so he’ll be captain for the next few years.
anybody can be a better option than root ?
its easy to take any sort of credit for the 2.1 vs west indies and really they was not up to the challenge or fit enough for 3 quick test matches, after losing the first test we struggled in the 2nd test when time was tight and down to the last hour and won ? the 3rd test was a shoe in and the west indies was done stick a fork in them and dip your bread
mark my words when Pakistan turn up next week they should be in better shape and if the weather holds will be a lot tighter than the west indies, then the ashes come up very soon people will be jumping all over root when we get white wash 5.0 again
Who would be better than Root? Stokes didn’t prove he was. Burns, Sibley, Pope and Crawley are too new.
Butler might be dropped and already keeping.
Bowlers generally aren’t picked as captains and we are rotating them anyway.
There isn’t even a credible candidate to take over from Root currently, hence I suggested he will be captain for a fair few years to come.

That may hinge on how well England fare against Australia next winter. Lose three consecutive series against them, especially if it’s nowhere near close again, and his position as captain might be untenable.
They’ve only had their intra-squad game at Derbyshire since they walloped Bangladesh in early February, and even though they are better than the West Indies, England do have the benefit of having played three Tests.
Agree on the bowling points. It seems that attention has been focused purely on resolving the top order issues and not on who opens in Brisbane next November. Broad is now undroppable and Anderson will presumably play next week and perhaps give way in Southampton. Yet if Pakistan win/draw the first Test, there’ll be a clamour to keep them in so as to win this series. All a bit short-sighted.
they would be better captains if they would be give more time ? the like stokes or burns or broad why not ?
roots has shown over and over again the weakness when facing the better teams, he struggles in working out a system or field settings or a bowling plan ? the ashes over seas england and the ECB never learn and i would say root is nailed on captain ? broad anderson main bowling strikers
all 3 struggle in the last ashes tour down under and we are still hanging our hope on them 3 to bring home the ashes hahahahahah
