Can't blame him for wanting to go home to be honest, spending all that time quarantined in Sri Lanka must have been difficult and despite 8 wickets in the match he got whacked. Enjoyed seeing him knock a few sixes this morning, difficult to see how he plays test cricket for England again.
He has a history of abuse from India supporters - will see what is said after the tour.

Sounds like Ali has gone home because he wanted to.

I know he’s had problems over the past few years and if he isn’t right mentally then it is absolutely the right thing to do in letting him go home, but I’d ask the question why are they so bothered about getting him back in the team?.. he isn’t good enough with either bat or ball so just leave him be.

Yep the recall was baffling now that he has told thanks for this test match but I’m of! They’ll forget about him now and use Bess as our spin bowler! He is only 23 keep him in the side let him learn in this side he can bat to leach been ok but on that last test wicket he was garbage he should of taken lot more wickets and not gone for so many runs! He probably gets in the side just because he is a left handed spinner.

This was always the point he was going home. Do you think the same about Buttler and Bairstow etc who all fucked off? It's been a planned, team decision that fans should accept and stop listening to bellends like Vaughan.

England cricket Twitter/fans/pundits this week have been a disgrace. From moaning about the pitch to calling out the players going home or questioning the 4 changes - pick your fucking dummies up.

Look at the 4 changes:
Stone for Archer - injury.
Broad for Anderson - planned, probably due to both of them playing the third test day/nighter.
Mo for Bess - Mo was highest wicket taker and run scorer.
Foakes for Buttler - Big improvement keeping wise at least.

England cricket is in beautiful shape, the strength in depth is amazing. Look at the players that have gone home and those that have been added to the next squad. I wouldn't like to pick the team for the next test and that's with a few good players being back in England.

We have so much cricket this year and high level cricket at that. Allowing players to be rotated whilst still being 1-1 in India is only positive. England should play four seamers next week and just go with the mindset of the ball nipping around under the lights. The last d/n game in India resulted in all 20 Bangladesh wickets being taken by the seamers. On that basis Mo wouldn't have been picked anyway which I imagine he already knew.

This was always his going home point but they obviously asked him what he wants to do. He knows England will go with one spinner next week. He was also England's leading wicket taker and run scorer in this test, so if he's so bad there's no hope for the others. He also had a little matter of covid before the first Sri Lanka match. Things might have been a lot different had that not happened and he might be going home now having played four games.

I enjoyed Mo's cameo this morning, just two hits short of posting the fastest ever Test fifty. I can't blame him for wanting to get out of the "bubble" after having covid earlier in the tour. Taking 8 wickets and making Kohli look like a no.11 in the first innings isn't a bad note to finish on.

Great bowler and a good lad, of course it is his right to go and be with his family, he must miss them.

However, many people serving their country abroad don’t have the option to just go home, I’d have liked to see Mo stay and fight for his team and his mates over there, try to win the series before quitting at least.

Yeah it was planned for those you mentioned and it was planned for Moeen to stay for the rest of this series it was him who asked to go home.

Haven't seen anyone say this about Buttler or Bairstow.

Because that was planned like bairstow, what we talking about is Ali plan for him was to play the rest of the Indian series and it was he whose has asked to go home.

The only difference is Bairstow and Butler took up the offer a month ago, and Ali waited until this test.
