17 dropped catches in the series. I think there should be a split of those into dollies and difficult (let's call them Jacks and Crawleys).

Watching the day 2 highlights, it appeared that Smith wasn't totally in control of a fair number of his aerial shots. Head was in control of nearly all of his. It might just be Smith's batting style making the bat look uncontrolled.

So who’s going to open our bowling? Archer and who else? Carse isn’t the one

I can't make that call. Depends who is fit to play. If everyone is fit I would go with Archer and Atkinson in home conditions. I'm not convinced by Tongue and as I said Cook is brilliant in home conditions so could easily open or be the first change.

Carse hasn't bowled well but he has made it through the series at least and managed to take wickets (gifts largely). He shouldn't ever open the bowling though.
