I’d say Australia are marginally on top as we haven’t seen any evidence to suggest we will score 400+ and Adelaide is definitely a pitch to bat first/bowl last on.

The pressure and our weak batsmen throwing the kitchen sink at every wide ball (Bazball) holds no hope

350 or more will give the Aussies a good lead to bowl at england, they will set the traps and our rabbits will fall for them, What is the breakdown of a lead of 350 ? Well somebody has to score a big hundred and then somebody else has to stick around with him. I don't see that happening in our innings.

I hope I am wrong and somebody smashes a big hundred and we get a lead, but can you change from playing bazball for 3 years to play proper cricket in mid-series

Considering the threat of Lyon on day four and five (assuming the match lasts that long), we really need to have a first innings lead of 50+ to stand a decent chance of winning this game and getting back into the series. Whilst I’m far from optimistic, the conditions should be batsmen-friendly over the next couple of days.

We’ll only need to bat once :-)
