Agonising. Small margins. The dropped catches. The umpiring decisions. Which is why preparation is absolutely key and you can't throw away chances when you are given them.

Keeping Pope for this test ahead of Atkinson was absolutely criminal and cost us the match in my opinion.
 
2nd innings level, maybe as the pressure was off. Batted for 15 more overs and lost by 82.

The series has gone exactly how it was expected to so no one can really be dissapointed.

Somewhat unbelievable and yet not so much.

Pope has looked horrifically out of touch for however long now and yes it's the job of a No.3 to be able to handle all conditions and occasions.

Buuuuuuttttttt - he's not been given the opportunity to come in after the opening bowlers being worked in red hot heat, once the shine is off the ball and a decent start etc.

He's currently being deployed as an opening batsman after about 10 balls............
 
Australia just far superior in most departments especially at home! Vaughn was right what he said we had to win the first test or it be very difficult.. we pissed that test match being arrogant..

bang on Effectively 90-1 to setting them 200 was where 'Bazball' and Stokes lost this series.

Every top side would have said 'let's bat these out of the game'.
We thought 200 was plenty. McCullum actually said that.

Losers mentality.

We should have aimed to set them 300 plus. They'd have got nowhere near it. Then it would have been them changing their side and looking for answers.

Not sure where you’re getting world class batting line up from! One truly world class batsman and one with world class ability but in danger of being the Nick Kyrgios of cricket if he doesn’t start using his brain. The rest of them are nowhere near world class.

What pissed me of big time is not picking Bashir for this test match and stop playing Bazball which they said was how they wanted to play for the last 3/4 years! They’ve gone back to proper test match cricket! I’d rather we got stuffed keeping to what they had worked on for 3/4 years! Absolutely they are all full of shit with this Bazball..

Now we will play the 2 dead rubbers ? Bashir will be asked to play and bowl 40 to 50 overs every test

I want a 5.0 whitewash by the Aussies. They have to go hard on england and rub our noses in the dirt after the remarks from england saying this is our best chance of winning the Ashes against an ageing Aussie team.

Nothing else matters other than 5.0 whitewash ?
a draw test, dare I say, letting England win one will show weakness by the Aussies.

I see again, talk is cheap by the England Coach and Ben Stokes, HANG your heads in shame, NO in fact, just walk away put out a statement that this is it, you're done and stepping down after the final test
 
The writing was on the wall after we squandered a golden opportunity in the first test.

What makes it all the more embarrassing is that Australia haven’t had their best team out in any of the three test matches we’ve seen so far.

Australia need the points for the WTC, England are likely out of it already now.

When Kerrigan was put in for a dead rubber they went after him and he never played for England again, and that was at the Oval. Should be a warning.

The WTC is a joke anyway ? How many test matches over a 4-year period you have to play to then only play one test final ??

Bashir will be hung out to dry in the dead rubbers, if I were him, i would fake an injury and come home

Hold those three catches and we’d have cantered to a victory. Shoddy fielding again.

Still, a good fight back, looking forward to the MCG later in the week.
 
The whole approach has been a disgrace.
Anyone could see this coming months and months ago.
1 warm up match, an arrogant approach with bazball and thinking it could work in Australia plus no pressure on the players out of form. Loyalty doesn't always work.

Some of these players are in white ball mode all the time and play like idiots.
Stop the central contracts and stop players skipping to franchise tournaments every 5 minutes. Some of these players barely play county cricket.
Wee going to be a poor side for a few years I fear.
