It’s August 22nd, and there’s been no first-class domestic cricket for seven weeks. Schedules cleared to make way for The Hundred, where there teams are sponsored by crisp manufacturers, and the target live audience is youngsters who should be playing the game themselves at that precise moment, rather sat with their dad and his dad’s mates and their beer snake under gunmetal skies watching the pinks play the oranges. Honestly, the ECB make UEFA look well-run.

They should play the 100 in September and play in the rain if they have to! Can't believe people still go to it

think it'll start to brighten, hopefully get play on by lunch! In time old cricket tradition, i'm sure they'll still force a 40 min lunch break at a ridiculous time after 6 overs of play :)

1.15 play

Qu: if play is restricted to 0-15 overs (weather, usually), you get a full refund - does this still apply if the restriction is due to a result?

The lack of cricket, first class or one day, in counties like Northants, Worcs and Kent through the best weeks of the summer is a disgrace and no amount of financial drip-down from tests and the Hundred or whatever will keep the county first class game viable (if it ever was)

I stayed at a B & B opposite Canterbury's modernised ground last week and there seemed to be a 3 week gap between home fixtures. In August.
