Nothing to do with the declaration. It's simply down to not taking our chances. Bairstow's dropped catches have cost us. But what a test and it sets the series up nicely. We went into this thinking bazball might have ineffective against what is the best test team in the world but we have rattled them and probably should have won.

Like in 2005 we need to keep those principles and stay strong mentally. My only concern is that it's at Lords and that's a test I usually write off. Every foreign player wants their name on the honours board there and it's not intimidating in the slightest. Shame we have to play there. Trent Bridge would be better!
I don’t know, but the declaration was a gamble to get the Aussies in late in the day; but didn’t come off and sacrificed maybe 25/30 runs. Agree with the missed chances, plus so many extras.

You cant do much about missed chances, and the injury to Ali.

The declaration was a decision and you have to say now it was the wrong one.

You can't say that we could have lost wickets in the next 2 balls . We could have taken 2 wickets in the time left that day
Hindsight is a wonderful thing
