In new they’d still pick him his fingers can’t improve that much after 8 days and it will open up again and be shite for the 2nd innings too..

I don't see how it can heal enough in the time to not just re-open again, but it's a pretty common thing and they'll weigh up the risks. If the skin has hardened up, which it should as a result, then he'll be fine. You need him to bowl a decent spell in the nets the day before to check it.

It’s pretty shocking that we haven’t got another spinner that stokes trusts

I think Ahmed is in the plans, but the Ashes is too significant and too soon in his career to expose him. Leach is the trusted spinner, Moeen the experienced backup who also picked up an injury. That's quite unfortunate. Australia would be miles weaker with Lyon injured and Agar or Swepson playing.

Personally I don't rate Leach at all. I want a spinner that can build pressure and not allow easy runs, which Leach does nearly every over with a pie. Lyon got Brook by just tying him down then feeding him the bait which he took with a swipe. That's the job of a spinner. Allow the seamers to rest, churn out 6 deliveries which force the batsman to be mentally fatigued and then allow the seamers to come steaming back in at them.

Todd Murphy would probably come into the Australian team if Lyon picked up an injury. He’s a decent prospect.

I think England missed a trick when Simon Harmer momentarily became eligible to play for them.

I doubt they’d risk Rehan Ahmed whilst the series is still alive. There’s every chance his batting will be his strongest asset once his career develops.

Moeen finger may heal in time but once you start bowling again it will rip open again, So you don't play him and pick 4 main seam bowlers and Stokes as a batsman not a main bowler, England was bowling with only 2 main bowlers in the last test because Stokes and Moeen Anderson and jimmy Anderson were not fit enough to bowl at the levels they can.

Mark Wood has to start and Woakes Also, Even if its for Jimmy Anderson, Jimmy looked old in the last test and if he's carrying an injury at his Age, it will take a lot more time to heal for Wednesday,

I even think Jimmy Knows it over at this level, he can not bowl enough overs to get him in any sort of rhythm to pressure the batsman,

Ahmed is a good prospect and it's a risk England should take and from what i saw of him he definitely looked more talented than spinners introduced by England in recent times.

This what annoys me with England you can tell he is a confident lad took five wickets and we don’t see him again

I did look vaguely at going to watch the sloggit at Surrey today.

145-0 off 11 is mental. I wonder if they've put the pitch off-centre as they've done in the past.
THe 11th went for 31, because the batsman mistimed a full toss on the last ball and only got a single.

195-2 now, into the 15th over.
