Cricket Thread

The Baz ball cricket we have adopted is not for the faint-hearted, it's 50/50 win or lose cricket and sort of takes out the condition and the wicket,

I will say it can make you look like a fool when losing, you are an easy target with the media and the fans

It's not and I completely understand why it's all or nothing. You can't really dial it back. Either you play with aggression and flair or you don't. You can't really only do it to certain shots. We come from a position where we were completely disastrous at test cricket. We couldn't bat for shit. Now there's a freedom to go and play some shots. Sometimes it wont come off and you can bemoan a poor shot, but in doing so you're ignoring all the other risky ones that came off! It's much like how KP used to be criticised. Personally I love it, but I'll still criticise as is my right. It's much like criticising Pep for overthinking when he makes a change and we don't win! Lazy and ignorant but comes with the territory.

I think we need both of these players to make a century to be in the game.

Root and Bairstow have to reel it back and not play Baz ball, take some time out of the game just to get in and build a score, with the wickets falling sort of slow it's down anyway, Root and Bairstow have to bat until stumps tonight

It was an unlucky but also poor from Brook imho. He had plenty of time to see where the ball had gone.

Just caught up on that - strange!

I suspect he was distracted by the fielders who clearly thought it had gone to leg. I don't think there was much he could have done to block it as it came down, even if he did think that it would spin onto the stumps.

We will never know now of course ! He could have swatted it away MMA but heat of the moment and watching a replay are two different animals.

Its a big ask. If they can put 100 on top of this then we are back in with a chance but we are a long way from being in control.

Brilliant from root. Absolutely madness he averages 50 in test cricket. Best ever English batsman imo absolutely love him
Madeness Bet365 enhanced the odds on him scoring a fifty in this test. Free Money

England need 400+ to have any chance on this wicket. Aussies won’t play themselves in then lose their wickets cheaply

It was a huge toss to win because the Aussies playing in these conditions could have put it out of sight

As long as Bairstow and Root are out there then there is a chance

Completely agree. I find with Stokes that he's either supreme with his timing or shocking. When it's the latter he needs to stop playing shots and let the guy at the other end lead things. He had plenty of credit in the bank.

As I said earlier, I always add two wickets to the score. These two need to take us to 300. 300-5 and we're then in a good position. Ideally we'd be getting 450-500 but if we score around 350 we're in the game.

240-5 at tea. Good partnership from Root and Bairstow.

A score of around 400 keeps us in the game but these are excellent batting conditions. I’d imagine Australia would be around 180 for 1 or 2 if they had won the toss.

As per my earlier post. I think 150.3 is on par for a good score. On this pitch though its got to be a good score.
You always lose a few with the new ball and then bed in if any good. Happens every CC game.
