England going along jolly well. Don't see either opener being dropped on the basis of what they have in done this series: Crawley averaging 38+ and Duckett, so far, 30+.

Good session for England and the making of another interesting game.

Again, you seem to be under the impression there's a list of better batsmen not getting in the team.

We dont have any excellent openers. You can spend the next 5 years moaning about that every single game, or you can just accept the ebb and flow of talent production and that as long as the openers see out te new ball and protect the genuinely good batsmen lower down the order, we will be fine.

You too sensible for this place!

I moan about a lot things and Crawley is one of my moans mainly like you there is a player in there, it’s just so frustrating how he gets out and not go on to get a big score.. your right who else we going to to play opening the batsman and the short player taller player is a good combination oh left right hander too..

Correct. But it's just a start. It'll count for precious little if we lose 2 or 3 quick wickets. Time to knuckle down now, and try to see the evening session out with as little further damage as is possible (one more wicket, max).

We need all out for under 400 we bat and only 2 for 160 at close of play!

It be more like Aussies will have a 500+ lead we bat at 5:15 and by the close we are 3/45

My first part looking more like happening I’d settle now 3/230 at close now..

Some cricketers just don't seem to be able to take their county form into the Test arena. Crawley's still got age on his side so he could yet get better (although I note his first class batting average is surprisingly low at just over 30), but 2 players from years gone by who always spring to mind and really should've done better for England are Graeme Hick and Mark Ramprakash. Hick's first-class batting average was an impressive 52.23 but in test matches it was only 31.32. Ramprakash's first-class batting average was even better at 53.14, yet his test match batting average was a woeful 27.32. I think anyone averaging over 50 in first-class cricket should be more than capable of averaging over 40 in test cricket so both those players massively underperformed in test matches IMO.
