Given the less than brilliant forecast, when would Stokes start to think about declaring? Lunch tomorrow, if they're not all washed away? We should be comfortably over 100 ahead by then, depending on the weather and the over rate. 20-25 overs, at 4-5 rpo. 125 in the morning session. Along with whatever they can amass this evening.
I wouldn’t be declaring any time yet. Get far enough ahead and quick enough that you don’t properly need to bat again. 200 ahead I’d say. That means knocking off 100 at most 4th innings which would mean 10 overs.

England scored at over 7 an over between lunch and tea , same again after tea and it isn’t out of the question.
Tonight's session is the game in my opinion. Reckon we'll continue at around 6 or 7 until parity then try to accelerate. Could be all out for 375 could be declaring at 500.

The average T20 score is about 166-6 so England scoring 142-1 (if you apply the run-rate to 20 overs) isn't bad for a test match! 178 runs from the 25 overs in that session. Keep it going lads.

If these two can take us close to parity then Stokes, Bairstow, Brook, Woakes, Wood and maybe even Broad will have some fun and we could well get a quick 100 lead. We need to bowl them out again, but why lose time coming out to bat again if we can get enough runs in this innings and bowl at them with the weather around.

I put old toilet in the search bar but agree it’s hard to be accurate that far in advance but I think the big picture is a lot of rain over the next 3 days. More to fear from the weather than from the aussies

I'd rather be bowling in it than batting. From this position Stokes has to be thinking, let's try and finish them off without needing to bat again.

Ooft, when they get it right (playing balls on merit) they really are superb. Fair play to both Ali and Crawley - criticsed both so definitely have to give them plaudits. With Crawley it was always just wanting him to stop giving his wicket away. He's been superb. What a session.
I agree that Moeen Ali’s contribution was huge too, good runs at a decent strike rate and allowed Root to come in in a far less presssurised situation. As for Crawley’s innings, fantastic and justified his inclusion, which I am happy to admit I wasn’t an advocate of

Deffo and there is a run a ball the way Cummings has his field set . Convicts in big trouble.

They might the way we are batting . Starc looks injured . Cummings well below par the rest of the bowling attack getting smashed . Fantastic opportunity here for England.
They would have everyone on the boundary unlike t20 no field restrictions, of we score at 8 an over from tea tilll stumps we would have done incredibly well imho

I wouldn't either but got a feeling they will. Cummins looks fucked and Starc looks like he's picked up a knock. Keep them out there.

Crikey over 100 runs from one batsman in a session is equivalent to a team total of well over 600 in a day
It's some going, especially as there were only 25 overs in that session. Guess that's why a century before lunch is considered a great achievement.

A certain Neil Fairbrother is out on his own though - the only batsman in the history of first-class cricket across the globe to have scored 100 or more in all 3 sessions on the same day!

imagine if they'd bowled the amount of over they should've

but yesterday both teams had runners coming on with drinks hats gloves even shoes

25 over they bowled in that session
That's the thing not a chance they will hit the over rate , England's was bad enough

He used to be my favourite player

Surrey in 1990? About the time I thought he'd be a top test player. Probably would have had a chance in a set up like todays.
