Without wanting to curse him, Root really is exceptional. Crawley has been class, but you have to watch through your fingers at times with the amount of edges and chances he gives. Root is just supreme. Comes in, sees it like a beachball from the get go and finds runs with such ease. Alongside the typical shots for 1s and 2s he's found the boundaries brilliantly and got his scoop working well too. A stunning 50* at some pace as well. Going at better than a run a ball.

Weather for the next three days looks awful so can't see much cricket being played and result being possible.

I've been bought a ticket for Saturday for what will be my first ever cricket match at any level.
What's the score when the weather is bobbins? Do you just get there at the normal time & sit around in case the forecast is wrong, or does it ever get cancelled in advance based on the forecast?
I do personally want to see some cricket, by the way, rather than sit in the pub all day!

Go. Take an umbrella.

The average first innings score in ODIs at OT is 225 and in second innings it's 197. England are 270-2 with a couple of overs left of their innings!

So it's 90 -100% chance of rain all day. All this bad weather must be England's thought process on how they are going about things.

Very rare that a day's play is called off the day before, so most people turn up, try and stay under cover and get pissed.

Worst aussie side for decades this one. Who would you have in this England team from theirs?

Seriously?!

Warner, Smith, Labuschagne, Green, Marsh, Lyon, Cummins, Hazlewood would all walk into any England squad.

Khawaja
Labuschagne
Root
Smith
Bairstow
Stokes
Cummins
Broad
Wood
Starc
Lyon

Would be a reasonable combined XI based on form over the last couple of years.

Fucking hell Fordy, they have the top 3 batsmen in the world test rankings, they have Stark and Cummins who are world class and they have an excellent cheating **** wicket keeper, they are also the top ranked team in test cricket and just became world test champions. They have had a bad day but “worst aussie side for decades” is a ludicrous comment

Yeah, under normal circumstances you have to turn up ready to play even if there is zero chance of playing. Exception are when the ground is flooded like New Road often is, 1 or 2 feet under water.
