With this frame of mind, it baffles me why he couldn’t do this in the first innings. The mental side of sport is amazing.

Stokes’ brain is an odd one. He’s like the ultimate contrarian. The more he’s expected to lose the better he is, and when England are on top he invariably throws his wicket away and gets them into trouble.
 
Yes, Stokes is getting lauded. And rightly so. But all credit to Broad for his Jack Leach impression here.

Also when the dust settles, this is a test match England should win 10 times out of 10.

When you consider where they were in the first innings before their hour of madness, if you consider they’ve had the best conditions all match when bowling and batting, they won the toss and Nathan Lyon got injured after about 10 overs.

If they win it’ll be heroic but it didn’t have to be. They spurned all the easy chances just to get close with the most difficult.
