Cricket Thread

Marginally? Well in front there day today! Come tomorrow 1pm if we are 150/4 we just ahead because we know we can lose 4/5 wickets for next to nowt! Let’s just hope Root has his “Real” serious head on..

I don't judge who's in front in Test cricket because one wicket can change the outcome, But the thing that stands out the most in Test Cricket is the better quality team, They just have something else that takes them over the line, The better teams normally have a Captain that knows his onions and just feels something needs a change before it's too late, the Aussies captain is one step ahead of Stokes so far all his ideas have paid off and worked.

I will say a fully fit Mark Wood is a game-changer and somehow England/Stokes has to find a way to keep him in the game and series,

I’m not sure they all have. Much of his strategy and field placing was ill-considered in the first innings at Edgbaston, and, but for a hubristic declaration, Australia could quite easily have found themselves in a proper pickle.

Looks like Essex flying into finals day. Could do without Brum having home advantage, so it is welcome.

I agree this series so far has been fine margins we could easily have been 2 0 up , we've messed up a little more than they have , it's certainly not been as one sided as most of the comments in this thread suggest

Series has been excellent entertainment, though I’m not sure either side has played to the best of its abilities, so the cricket has not hit the heights one might have anticipated. In part, that has sometimes been the result of the one side playing well or just stymying the other, but it’s also been a consequence of both teams having lost their spinners. A huge loss in terms of variety. As such, they’re both going to have to bludgeon themselves into submission.

The results say otherwise, All the big calls have gone to the Aussie captain, Stokes declaring shown weakness and then the England bowling did not stand up to the captain's faith in them,

Indeed says a lot that I've thoroughly enjoyed it despite being 2 down to the convicts

The fine margins are what am saying about their Captain making changes at the right time, Yes it did look close in both tests, but both results England are miles away from winning the ashes, Bazball or not big changes need to happen with the bowling attack and having a full-time spinner in the team is a must,

Forget the up-and-coming test series in the next 2 years, England needs to build a bowling attack for the ashes down under in 2 years' time, Somehow we need to find Pace and spin to hurt teams on any sort of wickets and not just in England,

there must be raw young talent in the network and somebody bowling fast to work with and fast track them,
Even if it's ugly at first get them in and learn them test cricket, Much like the ODI 50 over white ball cricket the ECB fast-tracked the game because of the world cup being in England,

Just finished watching the highlights and maybe it’s the way it was edited, but it looked like they caught everything and our catching was awful (again).
