Cricket Thread

I quite like Lawrence of Essex, Hain of Warwickshire, but I think they are both mid to late 20’s? I am not sure we generally produce classy one day cricketers and I think the Morgan era was something of a one off. Questions will have to be asked of Mott. Shit Stokes gone now

I'm certain that a lot of this is due to the ECB. Prior to the last WC, they prioritised the 50 over stuff above everything with an eye on the home tournament. Immediately after it, they trashed it to a 2nd string tournament with no big names in it as they're all playing sloggit.

You get what you prepare for.

The 100 is fucking garbage. Not even a proper county or any other structure where you can get behind a team - Lancashire yes, Manchester originals - who? It’s just a shit IPL, we already have the T20 blast. England in this tournament is like watching a disaster movie - no plot but you have to watch it to see how bad it gets

I agree, and just reinforced the 'big ground' counties who benefitted most.

I thought I'd seen that plans to extend it to 16 teams were planned - which is even more pointless!

When you are low on confidence, going even harder means you either make 500 or 150.

We were always going to have this drop off when we started Bazball. Being ultra aggressive creates awesome victories and awful losses.

I am just reminiscing here, but I am an FOC so that’s allowed. As a kid I used to love one day cricket in England. You had the John Player Sunday league where every team played every other team over the season, 40 overs a side. Then you had the 2 knock out trophies, the B&H cup (55 overs) and the Gillette/Nat west trophy (60 overs) proper knock out trophies with atmosphere, 30k crowds in quarters and semis at Lancs. No what is there? Nothing that captures my imagination, certainly not the multi coloured soulless 100

The 100 is baffling, who thought it up and why - utterly pointless competition.
