Hope the coaching staff can spend some of the break with the batsmen trying to eradicate the waft outside off stump with no footwork.Get a Psychiatrist to sit down with Brook and ask him as the last recognised batsman what the fuck were you trying to do.
Also work out from video analysis that Bairstow is shit and get Foakes in the side.Wish Archer was fit him and Wood in tandem would be a sight to behold.

Have they ever played in tandem in a Test match? I’m not sure that they have (not checked), though I do seem to recall that England have never been able to field Anderson, Archer, Broad, and Wood in the same side, which in my mind is the most potent attack.

Back to the meat and drink today. Leaders Surrey hosting Nottinghamshire and Lancashire hosting Essex at Blackpool. Lancashire still the only county unbeaten so far, but 5 draws is far too many, so maybe those sea breezes will inspire another victory to back up their impressive showing at the Oval. Surrey will likely have Foakes in the side, but I sense there isn’t the same appetite in the batting this year. Feels as if the players know they have enough to win back-to-back Championships but know that a Test call up/recall is unlikely, which has led to lackadaisical performances.

Good memory. He left the ‘bubble’ by stopping off at his flat en route to the Old Trafford Test. With hindsight, not quite ‘jingle and mingle’ but enough to see him lose his place.

Ridiculous that there is nothing in August.

Not been a spectacular season for Burns to date. That 88 against Middlesex back in May stands out as his only decent knock.

Really disappointing to note that the furthest north in the next home ashes is Nottingham. Nothing at Headingley and nothing at lancs. 2 in London, 1 in Hampshire, Edgbaston and Trent bridge. Nothing at Headingley is particularly shocking given the ashes results and support there
