Incredibly frustrating. This is the problem with cricket. I can't think of a single major sporting event that would be “settled” in this way. It's not settled. We would have bloody won! And the series would have been alive.

I would have thought the larger the puddles on the covers the longer it takes to clear up?

It’s not actually that idiotic if you think about it.

Sure, more rain will fall but there’s not harm reducing the amount of excess water on the surface.

Definitely clutching at straws here but I've just flicked the golf on and not really raining there at the minute. I'm assuming that's the direction of where the weather is heading from.

The whole playing area is slightly domed water naturally runs down hill. Waste of time trying to clear any standing water until it stops raining.
