Cricket Thread

Its a result business and the record books show they won the first 2 tests so I beg to differ.
They also lost their best Spinner bowler Lyons and he is a big miss with his record against England,

England was a shambles in the first 2 tests with so many bad choices in the lineup like picking only 3 mainline bowlers knowing Stokes could not bowl enough then Moeen Ali's finger it was all over the place, until the Leeds tests when changes were made it was looking like a whitewash,
England lost their spinner before it started and he has been a big miss. Yes there have been some mistakes with the line up and yes it's a results business. But, no way on earth did Australia deserve to win the first test. England could have easily won at Lord's although Australia played well. England have outplayed Australia quite convincingly since Headingley.
Truth be told, Australia have played limp, dull, cricket and are extremely fortunate to find themselves in the position they are in.

Nope we gave them both tests especially the first. I've watched a lot of cricket over the years and there's no doubt England have been the better team over the 4 tests. Not always best team wins.

The results say otherwise? from the Leeds test and Manchester when Wood and Woakes we have looked better,
But the damage was done losing the first 2 tests and no way back really, We all know what the weather can be like in Manchester with a must-win test you need the weather on your side,

As I said before its a result business and not Bazball good on the eye cricket that counts

I don't know what you are seeing, they found England out with bazball, They bounced us out and won the ashes in the first 2 tests, Yes they have dipped a little but they don't need to be 100% they knew the weather was in their court at Manchester,

I've been bought a ticket for Saturday for what will be my first ever cricket match at any level.
What's the score when the weather is bobbins? Do you just get there at the normal time & sit around in case the forecast is wrong, or does it ever get cancelled in advance based on the forecast?
I do personally want to see some cricket, by the way, rather than sit in the pub all day!

So, I attended today & got to say I really enjoyed the spectacle. Got a much better view than I was expecting, enjoyed the ability to take in your own scran & eat it in the stand, and enjoy a beer whilst watching the play.
Not a big fan of the "Barmy Army" culture, but I'm probably too old for that sort of thing.

That wasn't the original post you replied to though, the poster said they though England had been the better team across the series and I agreed with them. They didn't say it was unfair, just stating what most of us have seen. England's women were better than Australia yet drew the series, the better team doesn't always win.

I'm going tomorrow, not expecting too much Cricket but just hoping for a few hours. Unfortunately looking like too much time lost to get a result.

No way we deserve to be behind.
We batted badly in a couple of innings, and bowled badly in one, while they played "normal" cricket, that is why we are behind.

I love the "go fot it" cricket, but there times for normal sensible cricket, especially batting, and early in this series we didn't spot them.
