Cricket Thread

It does but it’s test cricket, you are playing the opposition, the conditions of the weather, the pitch and the time period of five days of cricket. If it was the other way round we’d be loving the rain that has fallen over the last two days. Let’s hope they at least carry the momentum from this game and level the series.
Bollocks. It's time they re-vamped the tests to add an additional day just in case, and for exactly this type of scenario. I'm sure they would do it for one day finals etc. Who the fuck is going to watch what is effectively a 'dead rubber' somewhere 'darn sarf'. Test cricket needs to keep up with the times....... otherwise for example football would be playing with fucking caseys and not showing live stuff at 3pm on Saturdays (if you live in the backwater that is Blighty). IMHO .

Funny when we were winning within 3/4 days they were saying they should shorten test match cricket! What they should do is make it 100 overs a day to bowl start at 10:30 end at 7 and stop players asking for extra drinks and glove make them wait for drinks or the break! Also they don’t bowl 15 overs in an hour the opposition gets 50 runs!

It is a bit daft with fans praying for rain at the Oval in 2005 but wanting the regulations changed when it suits.

Slow over rates have dogged international cricket for decades and are almost tolerated, they would ban the captain at one point in the ODIs.

England can still draw the series, but the marketing around the cAshes means most are uninterested now.

The Australians must be laughing their balls off. Outplayed so far but because of terrible declaring decisions they’ve managed to retain the Ashes.

We have to agree to disagree no one knows how many more runs we would of got Root could of hooked a shot straight down the throat of an Aussie next ball! Like me saying what if we got 2 quick wickets in that 30mins we would of probably won the game all ifs and buts! The way we know how this England team want to play now, there should be no thoughts on that declaration because in stokes thinking and this New England thinking this is how it’s is..
It was not the runs which were why he got the declaration wrong. The point of declaring was to get wickets before the close of play, to have Broard up against Warner. We failed to get any wickets, so that's why the declaration was wrong.

A shame for the series it ended like that but no balls and dropped catches put us 2-0 down and weather was always likely to cause a draw in one of the tests. The predictions before the series were generally based on 4 results. We left ourselves too much to do sadly. Hopefully we can go and batter them at the Oval for some pride.

We need to get our fast bowlers back for down under though or we will get battered. Both sides are facing a changing of the guard over the next couple of years though.

So thats hindsight then!? Stokes already said he wouldn’t change a thing in the previous tests!

I thought that sounded really odd, as if he wouldn't/couldn't contemplate that they could do better.

The mad slogging that cost several wickets was rotten play - this match they were rather more circumspect, and that approach applied earlier might have won another match.
