Cricket Thread

Was kind of scared of coming on here tonight but we must give respect to both sides, No right's or wrongs and there was too much good cricket and drama that Tests Cricket needed and the Ashes series was a draw.

The Aussies to their credit went for the win, They could have stunk the place out and just sit in and bore the pants off everybody and won the ashes 2.1, They went for the win even right up to the last wicket they still fancy the win.

When we looked back on this series England carried Jimmy Anderson and I think that was the difference between drawing and winning the series, Sentimental reasons and people were scared to say it but Jimmy is finished, Like Broad Jimmy could have walked away into the sunset with the memories of what a great bowler he has been and go out at the top, Sadly this series Jimmy has been very poor and it stood out like a sore thumb,
England seemed to go for pitches that would favour their new type of play, pitches that were drier, harder and more conducive to chasing down totals, yet such tracks were never going to favour Anderson. Nonetheless, when a player is on such a contract as he is, it’s almost inevitable that he will have to be chosen to play, so I would have more questions for those picking him in the circumstances than Anderson himself.

Anderson is not going to stand down because he is still told he still has something to offer, Somebody has to grow a pair of balls and say it like it is, 5 wickets in the Ashes series is not good enough, The worst is what you said about the pitches Stokes has wanted hard and dry pitch well jimmy does not play well on them ok let him play 4 tests

I think that praise for the Aussies is well said.

Can see them both working well in the media, ultimately. Broad is articulate and photogenic, which will appeal to Sky, whereas Anderson is more laconic and good at drawing out conversations, which means he should be a natural on TMS.
Absolutely. Heard a bit of Jimmy on the Tailenders podcast. TMS natural.
Same with Broad. Can imagine him being quite forthright with his opinions perfect for Sky.

He played in 3 of the 4 Tests in the last tour of India, taking 8 wickets, so assuming the ECB retain him, he goes, and the wickets are more spin friendly, then he’ll probably have a holding role rather than a strike role.

Quite sure that India will prepare pitches that favour their play, naturally, so it will be interesting to see how England adapt.

The decision may need to be taken out of his hands. He's clearly past his best now; even his biggest fans can't deny that. It'd be a terrible shame if he did go to India, and got dispatched to all corners of the grounds out there.

And yes; I know. Cricket grounds don't have corners. I'm sure you get my drift.
