Surely he'll fancy a total break from cricket for a year or two with a very young daughter to dote on ?
True. But I imagine the media stuff won't be as time consuming as actually playing. He won't be months away from home touring during the winter, for starters. A lot of that stuff will be done in the studio in London. Of course, he has that decision to make.

He’s got 6 months until the India series, then it’ll be a few days in the sky studio, picked up and dropped off from home by a driver.

It’ll be the most he’s been at home since he was about 20 years old

They get better the more cricket they play.

Whenever they have a break from playing, the Bazball hype seems to overtake them and they do stupid things just to show how Bazball they are.

Players like Root, Brook, Ali all reverted to something close to their natural games as the series went on and they were much better for it.
Can agree with that, which also begs the question of why they never arranged another Test before the first. Similarly, it’s now almost a full six months until they play in India.

Selecting a composite team of the series is tough.

I’d go:

Crawley
Khawaja
Root
Smith (looked in good form but only averaged 37)
Brook (tough choice between him, Head and Mitchell Marsh)
Stokes
Bairstow (Carey the better keeper but Bairstow by far the superior batsman)
Woakes
Starc
Broad
Lyon

12th man - Wood

Was kind of scared of coming on here tonight but we must give respect to both sides, No right's or wrongs and there was too much good cricket and drama that Tests Cricket needed and the Ashes series was a draw.

The Aussies to their credit went for the win, They could have stunk the place out and just sit in and bore the pants off everybody and won the ashes 2.1, They went for the win even right up to the last wicket they still fancy the win.

When we looked back on this series England carried Jimmy Anderson and I think that was the difference between drawing and winning the series, Sentimental reasons and people were scared to say it but Jimmy is finished, Like Broad Jimmy could have walked away into the sunset with the memories of what a great bowler he has been and go out at the top, Sadly this series Jimmy has been very poor and it stood out like a sore thumb,

Yepp Lyon was a huge miss for the convicts but we carried Anderson the whole series on sentiment. Thought Ali was superb when brought back , experience class and a cool head . Test cricket the best cricket by far and this Ashes series proved it .

Hard to disagree. Not much bowling in that side, though that is one of the takeaways of this series. The loss of Lyon was huge for the Australians (9 wickets in 3 innings).

What an unbelievable series!
For some reason I didn’t really enjoy it that much considering we got a draw and was expecting a thrashing. I don’t know if it’s because I now think we missed a golden opportunity or if it’s because I’m worried about our future bowling attack, but at least we came out with credit after our performance. Feels like both sides have a lot of decisions to make going forward.
