This is heading for a draw.
Nope.
We're definitely ahead if Pant isn't batting. And probably still just ahead if he is.
This is heading for a draw.
Fair enough.
I can just about remember Sobers playing against England; it must have been the 1974 tour, and he was well past his best then.
I remember my Dad telling me that he could bowl as a pace bowler, a swing bowler and as a spinner.
He must have been some bloody cricketer in his prime.
Sangakkara deserves a mention.1. Sobers

I've probably forgotten a load of Indian, Sri Lankan, Australian etc players.

Sobers did not have to bat or bowl against the best bowling attack and batsmen of his era. Kallis had to bat against arguably the greatest bowlers of all time.1. Sobers

It’s obviously the case. Been out today, TMS commentary much better, they are actually happy when England take a wicketIs it just me or are the Sky Commentary team incredibly biased towards the Indians?

Comparing players from different eras is impossible really in all sports.pitches, equipment, ease of travel... there's pros and cons for each.
Kallis only averaged below 50 against Australia, England and Sri Lanka.
That's a really good pointSobers did not have to bat or bowl against the best bowling attack and batsmen of his era. Kallis had to bat against arguably the greatest bowlers of all time.

My Dad always spoke about Miller as a great player.Kapil Dev and Richard Hadlee were far better bowlers, not as good with the bat.
My dad would want Keith Miller (Aus) to be considered.
I think those three would be ahead of Imran. The top 2 are miles ahead.
The one statistic that I remember about Gary Sobers was the 6x6 ( ie 36 runs in a 6 ball over ) when he was playing for Nottinghamshire @. 1969.1. Sobers
2. Kallis
3. Botham / Imran Khan / Stokes ??

Sobers would have come up against Lillee and Thompson two of the greatest fast bowlers of all time - in their pomp.Sobers did not have to bat or bowl against the best bowling attack and batsmen of his era. Kallis had to bat against arguably the greatest bowlers of all time.
