It used to be 3 groups of 6, started off 5 games, upped to 8, then 10. When it went to two groups of 9 with 16 games the crowds saw a big drop off as there were too many games, and the counties made more money with less games but bigger average gates, so they went back to 3 groups 10 games, and then 2 groups with 14 games.
The demand was clearly there in 2019 to go back to 16 games after a decade more of building it up, but doubt it ever will now with the Hundred.
As Notts got beat in the end tonight, 2nd back in our hands with a win on Sunday, Worcs at Derby who had a massive win today, but the NNR rate is catchable for the Pears.
If Lancashire get their average score of 176 (per 20 overs) and concede their average of 169 winning by 6 runs, then Worcs getting their average of 182 would need to win by 23 runs to edge Lancashire out on NRR. Only around 17 runs better if talking average scores, or win with 15 balls to spare.
