Cricket Thread

I'd prefer this Test to end a draw. It would be horrible for cricket if the tactics both have used were seen to reward one over the other.

No big deal, we just need to invent a totally new effective way of batting against short balls.

Surely we’ve got to have something up our sleeves, it’s not catching us by surprise.

371 is a daunting total to chase for any team in any era. We managed to better that against India last year and pre-Bazball we chased over 360 to win against Australia at Headingley in 2019, but it’s far more common to see a team fail when chasing a total like that. If we weren’t so uncomfortable against the short ball, I’d fancy us to make a good fist of it but I can’t see it really.

This is a chance to rule the world. We just need to show a little patience. Never forget, tomorow could be our greatest day, a chance to shine. Just pray it all comes good, and we see a flood of runs.
The Australians should have been 400+ and unable to lose this one. Instead, it's a great opportunity for the English but only if the top six realise they can play until tomorrow evening. However, the Australians are going to pepper them from the off, and England could well be 4 down by the close of play tonight.

If we are being positive, 130 overs of banging the ball in short could potentially cripple Cummins, Hazlewood and Starc for the rest of the series.

Third test starts on Thursday.

Good in practice but England are not playing with sense they’ll bat like they did in the first innings braindead

Not going to happen they will bounce us again and we will go nowhere!
I have sympathy for the batsmen for both sides. I watch a lot of Pope and he holed out in the first innings because he was half way through the shot before the ball had even arrived. In such conditions, players are going to get out playing the right shots, but the pitch is going to make them look hopeless and hapless.
