Looking ahead to Thursday, it's almost inevitable that England will now have to make changes. I reckon the orange should be in jeopardy, the green might be out through injury, and the blue are probably safe.

Ben Duckett
Zak Crawley
Ollie Pope
Joe Root
Harry Brook

Ben Stokes(c)
Jonny Bairstow(wk)
Stuart Broad
Josh Tongue

Ollie Robinson
James Anderson

Not sure they will make as many as 4 changes, though, especially if one or two have to miss out through injury.
Can we not just play Bairstow as a batsman, he is a decent keeper but falls short as a true international keeper but he is a dangerous batsman when on form.

We really need to find some new pace bowlers, Anderson and Broad have been amazing and can still do a job but where are the new speedsters?

Bairstow? We need a proper wicket keeper but Bairstow merits his place as a batter.

2 aging pace man and loads of back up bowlers
injured, a captain who is injured, an out of form batting line up and no decent spinner.
That's the issue

The biggest thing for me is the lack of speed from our main bowling attack, before the ashes we all said we have a good chance of winning the ashes because of Anderson and Broad and Robinson, But the 3 of them bowling at 80mph is like buffet food to the Aussies and help yourself,

Tongue is the stand-out bowler in this test and is bowling at around 85mph but without much test cricket to his name, Sorry Jimmy Anderson And Broad your days are numbered and should step down after the ashes,

Big Big Questions right across the board with the coaching and captaining after the first 2 tests, like I said changes need to be made just to stop the whitewashing on English soil because the Ashes have long gone

Recent crowned as the best team in tbe world however you wrap it up
Yep. Strongest side over here since 2005 imo. The attack is pretty similar to last time but a genuine all rounder in Green and Carey being a big upgrade on Paine makes them much better.
Pre series I thought the most likely weakness was their openers due to their records over here. Kind of half right in that Warner is still to prove me wrong!
Sometimes you have to recognise the superior quality of the opposition.

They're a long way ahead of us.

Oh they are definitely a superior side but England just keep doing the wrong things at the wrong times, they have been bloody awful

Without the extras , we would need less than 200
Nope. We started off needing 371. If you count the extras FOR BOTH SIDES (and you can't only count them for one side, really), Australia have benefitted to the tune of 74 runs in their two innings. England benefitted to the tune of 22 runs in their first innings, therefore a deficit of 52 runs. Take that off the 371 we needed, and I make that 319 runs. Unless I'm either being over simplistic and/or I'm missing something.

I didn't factor in runs scored off the extra deliveries due to no balls and wides.

I think we declared way too soon in the first test. that arrogant decision will cost us dearly in this series.
This will likely be England's 3rd test defeat on the spin, (I don't count the game against Ireland a proper test). Of the three we declared first innings twice, both games we should have won, but lost through stupidity. The other one we win the toss, put the opposition in and they get 400+. A captain would have been absolutely slaughtered for these decision's not that long ago.
