Not doubting that, but with what we`ve got out there he`s a better option opening than Bairstow who has fast become a liability in the field and a hopeless opening bat. The selectors need to take some flak here for sticking with the old guard for so long preventing any younger break through players. The squad selection of Stokes has been a big big mistake.

I saw yesterday that Archer had been named as a travelling reserve.
He flew out for the 3rd or 4th match (in Mumbai, where - and I'm sure it's entirely coincidental - he has an IPL contract), stayed 4 days and flew home.

That's joined-up thinking, isn't it?
