India to good thought we would draw the series I don't know why I did because looks like all matches will be won or a loss they way the two teams play! Let's make it a 3-2 loss

Will world test championship ranking be different if we loose 4-1 vs 3-2. If yes , then lots of motivation to win last test

We tried to win by changing our 'Bazball" tactics and it didn't quite work. Nice to see we are willing now to play the situation at times and not just go mental for the sake of it. I think we've gained so much out of this tour even if we loose 4-1. It's the hardest place in the world to play and we won one and could have won 2 of the 3 tests we lost. We've also found a gem of a spinner in Bashir. Pretty positive despite the outcome.

Haha…post match thread of football vs cricket …we would never be so calm and rational if we loose a football game

Gutted not to win this test and take it to a decider. 110-3 to 145 all out was gutting and never felt like enough runs. We possibly only needed to drag ourselves to 200 in order to set a challenging target but as is often the case, one wicket turned to many!

Hopefully we can pull ourselves together and go win the final test. It's a tough place to go, but with the players India are missing this was a real opportunity. Bazball continues to frustrate and entertain in equal measure - but watching England remains good fun!

The trumpet jingle after every boundary/wicket/end of over in the PSL matches needs to die very quickly.

They have noises for reviews, wides, no balls and ducks too.

It’s cricket coverage for people with ADHD.

As many have said, disappointing to lose this one considering where we were and also really disappointing to lose the series.

Not sure if this is a "losers mentality", someone who believes in "Bazball" or someone just trying to put a bit of a positive spin on things but currently being 3-1 down in this series feels a million miles away from losing 3-1 in the series in India in 2021. And they've all been exciting Tests.

That first Test in 2021 Root scored big but then we got absolutely annihilated in the remaining tests and with zero positives to take from them whatsoever, we looked completely inferior to India. Maybe Bazball doesn't allow for consistency but we've seen flashes of really great things from Duckett, Pope, Root, Hartley and Bashir. Bairstow in particular has really stood out as far as being way out of form and you'd imagine that Brook will be back to take his place in the English summer, but I wouldn't say anyone else has had a complete disaster.

I think it’s quite simple. India have a far better team than we do. I’m surprised we won one.

The pitches have been better than usual over there as they know both their seamers and spinners are better than ours.

The downside of "Tests Only" overseas tours, particularly with the batting line-up, is there's never a "man in form" to replace one that isn't delivering. Lawrence can count himself unlucky to not have had a chance.
The one plus from this defeat, is giving Root the chance to play his own game, and not overtax him as a bowler. He needs to be able to attempt to anchor any innings, and then the chance of losing wickets at both ends is lessened.
It's been a fascinating series nevertheless.

I prefer "unacceptable".
