Umpire was having none of it, so Gill gives it 3 balls before asking again at which point the umpires calls for a ball change!

No wonder their over rate is shocking
When it’s soft the bowlers must keep squeezing it as they run up because don’t think England could get the ball changed!

Let’s see how Bashir bowls on a fourth or fifth day!

I’d keep him in the side I can see his improvements, isn’t he 21/22? Newzealand do this remember Daniel Vettori debut at 18 ended up playing 113 test matches in 9 years! He was like Bashir raw and ended up getting 362 wickets 4.500 runs! Yeah Bashir be lucky to get 1500 runs in that time! My point being stick with the kid he will get better spin bowlers always get better with experience learning there trade! I love his attitude to a very confident lad and gives some back at the batters..

A fair bit of spin there from the Indian's so we might get to see how he does in this test.

I don’t think Bashir is as bad as some make out. Stokes didn’t do him any favours in the last test by opting to bowl first on a road.

He's 21. The Bashir plan makes sense, but it will be criticised for at least another 3/4 years before we even know if it's worked.

It makes sense. CC is not producing decent spinners, so take a kid out of CC 5 years early and hope being around the best cricketers and coaches in the world, playing on different pitches all over the world against the best opposition, he develops into a test quality spinner.

Ashwin, Lyon, Jadeja, Swann - the best spinners of the past 15 years - all made their test debuts between 24-27.

Bashir is not going to be a good test bowler until he's about that age, but all the other options are about the same age, or pushing 30, so it's worth trying something different.

Brook falling for that is mad seeing how he can score runs! Yeah the ball moved a lot but they setting him up for that! Oh look the changed ball is moving around! Think the umpire needs to check it out see if they want it changing again

With the weather forecast, we need to be batting as long as possible and yet we're scratchy & fucking chaotic. It's not a Bazball thing, it's an intelligence thing - we are awful at playing the conditions of the match.

It's not easy out there. All the pre-match talk was about getting through the first 30mins to an hour but there's still plenty in it for the bowlers. We're digging in but they've bowled really well to be fair to them. It's a lot different to the first two tests!

This Bazball terminology needs to be dropped! What is bazball exactly? Is it record chases?

In cricket people will always lose their wicket. Sometimes it's through great bowling, other times through a poor shot. When you're in the middle with the ball moving around, spinning and you're trying to get some runs it's not easy!

The approach we take as a side is to try and be aggressive so that we put the pressure on the bowlers rather than bow to it. Overall it's been much more successful. The strike rate is pedestrian compared to our usual standards so we're clearly playing sensibly. It's scratchy and chaotic because it's tough!

I’ll wait till we bowl because we seen we been pretty blunt

Definitely not playing sensibly - have you been watching? Crawley went down the pitch 3 times to fast bowlers in the first 6 overs; Pope was playing loose drives from the moment he got in, giving them catching practice until he decided to actually knuckledown; Stokes played a nice drive followed by lashing at one in the air towards gully. Like I said, it's not a Bazball thing, it's playing intelligently and making it more difficult to get you out.

How long do we think Stokes can pootle along with a 50 strike rate until he loses his head and gets out?

Before 6 I reckon (might be trying a reverse jinx here)

Oooft, not sure if that counts but he was a long way down/across

I love it when Stokes plays like this. Likewise brilliant to see England going at 3 an over, reminds me of my youth, where’s Geoffrey?
